Brand new from housewares company Dexas, Popware for Pets offers some innovative pet feeding products with terrific space-saving features. This is their new raised pet feeder, with collapsing bowls and folding legs. It folds to only 1.5 inches, making it very easy to store.

The feeder comes with two collapsible bowls (also available separately) and is dishwasher safe. Popware for Pets is so new, that it’s not yet available, but when it is, you will find that it comes in some great color combinations including brown & turquoise, brown & pink, and gray & dark blue. Look for it this summer at your favorite pet boutique.

Thanks for showing an innovation in pet feeding dishes.
Manufacturers & designers, here’s an opportunity for you:
One feature I would love to see is a way to deter ants from getting to my cats’ food. I live in California, and there are always ants roaming around the houses in our area. Currently I put the cats’ dishes on a high-edged plate filled with water to create a “moat” that the ants won’t cross. Any one have a more elegant solution to this problem?

This is a great idea but unfortunately, it’s made out of plastic. I would grab it up in a second but I’m just afraid to feed my boys out of anything but glass given the recent studies into plastic toxins.
If you can find a way to collapse glass, I’m in!
LOVE this site!!!!!

I saw the travel bowl version at Petsmart recently, and Amazon is carrying a selection of Popware’s products.
Regarding Cynthia’s concern–these are silicone bowls, the same stuff used for bakeware, spatulas, etc. I haven’t found any reference to known health concerns with silicone. I did find a good overview of someone else’s search on the topic (see below). Most plastics that have know problems of leeching have this problem only at high temperatures–so unless you are feeding hot food, it should not be a concern regardless of type of plastic.
