I think I’m going to have a heart attack, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen! As you may be aware, the Japanese treat their pets like children, and since they are also masters of good design, it’s no surprise that some Japanese housing builders are now designing homes with special features for pets. These amazing images are from Asahi Kasei’s Plus-Nyan house. Obviously a great deal of research went into the design of these beautiful spaces, from the perspective of both the cats and the homeowners.
Features include open air cat walks, climbing steps, nooks throughout the house for cat hide-outs, cat doors in every door, extra space in the bathroom designed especially for a litter box, an enclosed deck area, and special fences to prevent cats from escaping.
They have even gone so far as to use pet-friendly construction materials that resist scratching and are easy to clean.

Oh, this is so cool! I really, really want a house like this. For me, and for my cat. It’s all beautiful, of course, but I like the special cubicle for the litter tray next to the ‘human’ toilet – so practical!

Your house is something i’ve dreamed about for years. I own 8 cats and im always looking for ways to live happily with them and seeing your house has inspired me to remodle my house from top to bottom. thank you .

How wonderful is this? There is nothing better than enjoying the happiness of a cat! Even in the toughest times, they can take our minds off of our stresses. This is just the best for us kitty lovers!

As long as there’s a space where us humans can get to all of the little hideouts (mostly so we can clean them in case of any “accidents” but also in case we need to get to a sick kitteh), this is an awesome house!

We are getting ready to build a new home and have included plans in one of our bathrooms for a litter box area complete with a motion light, drain, and faucet! I can’t wait, looks like these people consider their cats a part of their family, as well! Love it!

Wow, great ideas for my cat’s room. She must be ultra rich to be able to afford such a big home for her cats (and herself) in Japan.
