Sisters
by Meg Houston Maker
My little hurricane,
my little thunder
storming
around the house.
Gray raincloud cats
with claws like lightning
eyes gold like fire.
In your legs,
the strength of
mountains.
In your paws
the speed of light.
Nothing can catch
one
except the other.
Sisters, you live
racing the moon,
winning.
Thanks to Moderncat reader Meg for submitting this wonderful poem.

I love your poem. It makes me see your darling kitties in all their fierce glory.
I like the power words you use to describe them.
Mom is proud of you!!

Beautiful cats together. Love that.
Beautiful poem. Love THAT!

What a lovely, exquisite poem. It shows such respect for the inherent wildness of your mysterious little friends; how could you not be moved to poetry, living with two whirlwind raincloud cats? Cats never cease to amaze me, and it’s gratifying to know that others are likewise inspired.
