As you may recall, last year we got involved with a massive cat rescue through Best Friends Animal Society. As a result of our volunteer experience with this project, four of the almost 800 cats who were rescued from this institutional hoarding situation, are now members of the Moderncat household — Flora and Dazzler call me mom and Sebastian and Ginseng are happy to have Peter as their cat dad.
Well, we just learned that another cat, Muppet, who also came from this rescue, is in serious need of an expensive operation to relieve the intense pain in her ears. Muppet’s mom is one of the brave people who helped bring attention to the horrible conditions that these cats were in. Please see this story on Caster for more information on Muppet’s condition and for ways that you can help.

I can’t get on here at work, but as soon as I get home, I’m putting a drop in the Muppet bucket.
Poor sweet baby! Situations like this make me FURIOUS! Those people should be left to starve and suffer like those poor cats did. I’m so happy that over half of the money for her operation has been raised. HUGE kudos to all those animal lovers who cared enough to help.

I have made a donation and have also sent a personalized email to 64 of my friends/family in hopes that they too will be motivated to help…
Let’s give this family one more thing to be thankfull for this Thanksgiving!!

Can Modern Cat get us the specifics on Muppet’s ear trauma (cause and extent of surgery) and update us as this story unfolds please and thank you.
Leo, Pete and Sophie broke into their Mom’s piggy bank and dropped a few bucks in the Muppet Bucket.

Going to check out Muppet’s auction and bid, too. Muppet looks like a long-haired cousin of our beloved Lum Lum who was taken from us by neighbor dogs. I want her to fully recover and have a long, happy life!

Thank you for posting Muppet’s story on here! But as of today Muppet’s ‘Bucket’ is overflowing!! Hurray! I scheduled her surgeries for December 3rd.
They are saying it was the fastest fundraiser in Catster history!
Very grateful to all who contributed and are continuing to pray for little Muppet.
Much Love,
Cheryl Runyon

I’ve donated too, in the name of my kitty Joule. Her back legs are partially disabled from something her first owner did to her. They returned her to the shelter, thankfully, the damage to her spine was undetectable. Now she is mine to care for. Good luck, Muppet. Live long and happy and healthy.

Marley, Mia and Delilah put a drop in Muppet’s Bucket. We’re sending lots of purrs for a successful fundraiser and a even more successful surgery. Please keep us updated if you’re able!

Muppet could be my beloved Bobby’s sister, looks-wise. Props to everyone involved in the Pahrump rescue and may Muppet soon receive her surgery and feel much, much better.

Hi all! I’m sorry I’m late, but had trouble finding the right page. I’m handling the Paypal collections for Muppet on Catster.
Thank you so much for your kind words and financial help. An avalanche of help from Moderncat came in after this was posted, and you helped us meet our goal of $5,000. In fact, the total stands at over $6,000 right now.
That was an estimate of the surgeries and after-care. We are holding onto the money in case of complications. If we have extra, we are going to search for another kitty rescued from FLOCK (the hoarding situation) who could use some help.
I’ll post details and updates about Muppets surgery here.

You should set up a Facebook group for Muppet!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to update on Muppet for those interested.
As of 5:30 pm, Muppet is out of surgery and is waking up from the anethesia! Dr. Mason said her surgeries went very well! He said, “Everything went straight forward and as expected. She didn’t have any major bleeding or complications. ” Hurray!!
They will stay with Muppet through the night and update me in the morning on how she’s doing. If she doesn’t have any complications, I can most likely bring her home on Friday!! Hurray!
Thank you ALL who in any way made this possible for my little Muppet!! There’s no way I can express just how blessed and grateful we are! Muppet’s so sweet and is only 2, thank you to ALL who helped to save her life! *big, big, hugs*
Much love & loads of gratitude,
Muppet’s mom Cheryl
