This sleek and timeless Persian was originally created by Boston sculptor Richard Recchia in 1931. Apparently the abstract form received a bit of criticism when it was first exhibited, since Recchia was one of the first artists to introduce abstract sculpture to the Boston art community. The beautiful cat eventually won over the critics and is now considered part of Boston art history.
A 12 inch reproduction of the original scultpure can be purchased from The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

One of these was a gift to me several years back. It occupies a prominent place in my living room curio cabinet and I enjoy it very much!

What a beautiful piece–i guess I owe this artist a debt of gratitude, since abstract / minimalist cat forms are a staple of my own creations–I hope I can add a replica of this gorgeous sculpture to my home some day!
