I cut large holes for my cat to walk through, and will tape them together to form longer chains. Then I cut little holes in various places, which are great for us to play through (I stick my finger in, she bats at it). She loves it. I had a huge setup once, it even had multiple levels. I kept adding onto it, but it got too big so I took it down. It has been years, and so when I made a small one a couple weeks ago, my cat seemed very happy to have it back (two boxes in an L shape).
