Automated Feeding for Optimum Health: A Truly Perfect Pet Feeder

Sun, Jan 25, 2009

Busy schedule? Traveling a lot? Tired of your 4 am wake-up call from fuzzball? Or maybe kitty is starting to look a little round, tipping the scales at an unhealthy weight. You may need an automatic pet feeder. There are several on the market, but I want to tell you about the Cadillac of automatic pet feeders, The Perfect Pet Feeder from Pillar Pet Products.

First of all, Pillar Pet is a small company based in Washington state and they take great pride in producing a top-quality product. The Perfect Pet Feeder was invented when the company founders had a health scare with their overweight orange tabby, Oscar. They had to find a way to reduce Oscar’s weight, so they tried every automatic feeder on the market, but each one had some problem so they set out to build their own and have truly perfected the design and function. Here are some of the issues they tackled:

Pet-proof design – No cat thieves here! The paw-proof latch keeps the lid secure and food safely inside, plus no amount of bumping or jostling the feeder will cause it to dispense accidentally.

Quick & Easy Programming – A simple interface lets you set the feeder for between 1 and 6 feedings per day.

Precise Portion Control – Each meal can be set for an exact amount from as little as a teaspoon up to several cups. The patented all-steel dispensing mechanism can handle any size or shape of dry pet food without jamming or crushing the food.

Power Outage Protection – No need to worry if there is a power failure while you are away because the Perfect Pet Feeder’s battery back-up system will keep the feeder working for days.

Safe Materials & Easy to Clean – My favorite feature is that all of the components that come in contact with the food are made of hypoallergenic stainless steel and can be disassembled and placed in the dishwasher. No other automatic pet feeder can claim this! Others include plastic parts that leach contaminants into the food or parts that do not come apart and cannot be easily cleaned, allowing the build-up of rancid food particles and oils. Yuck!

There are many other features including “suspend mode” if you and your pets will be away and a refill alert that warns you before the food runs out. The feeder comes in black or white and every feeder comes with a single and a double bowl.

The Perfect Pet Feeder is more than just a nifty little gadget, it can really have a positive impact on your life and your pet’s. It’s not just about feeding your pet, it’s about regulating portions and timing regular meals throughout the day. Both can improve your cat’s heath by balancing metabolism. Check out the before and after photos of Nueve to see how he benefited from having a consistent feeding routine.

Having a consistent routine not only regulates health issues, but it leads to a less stressful day, because kitty will learn that her meals will be delivered regularly and reliably. No more begging for you to feed her, now you can spend quality time with her and enjoy each others company.

The Perfect Pet Feeder is available only through the Pillar Pet website, and not from other retailers. This is because they want to maintain a close relationship with each and every customer. They know you are making an investment in this product and they want you to be happy. They even offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee and a 3-year replacement warranty, plus free shipping.

This looks great, but wow, $500 for a cat food feeder? That is VERY expensive – too rich for my blood!

I own the Perfect Pet Feeder and can speak firsthand on the quality of this product. It is worth the somewhat high price. I purchased the Perfect Pet Feeder for my cat, Ohana. He is an extremely intelligent cat and could easily manipulate the “cheaper” models on the market. I was getting up between 4 and 5 times a night to give Ohana a snack!! Needless to say our relationship was becoming a bit strained. I purchased the Perfect Pet Feeder and Ohana immediately let me sleep through the night!! I highly recommend this high quality product.

You failed to mention that it is 500 freaking dollars!

I saw the advertisement for this product here on Moderncat a month ago and read up about it. This feeder sounds fantastic, particularly the stainless steel, washable parts. The price is beyond my means right now, though I am sure it is completely worth it. So this purchase will have to wait. So much thought and care went into the design of this feeder, you can tell the people who sell the Perfect Feeder care about cats. Now we just need someone to make a stainless steel water fountain.

I love the Before and After picture!

  6. 6

Wonderful concept! When someone makes one the average person can afford, I will definitely be interested.

Hopefully the price will come down, like the fountains have over time. And now… they need to make a non-plastic fountain! The acne problem is making me nuts!

I have one cat who would benefit GREATLY from this thing, and I’d even be willing to spend a few hundred dollars on it. However, it’s not feasible for a multi-cat household. :( Really, though, no automatic feeder would be.

I understand that weight issues are a cause for very real concern for some pet owners but really, it kind of makes me shudder a bit to see Before and After pictures of cats! Geez, what has this image obsessed country come to?

  10. 10

I think the point of the before and after pictures is to show that it WORKS. I know FAR too many fat cat parents who just blow off the condition as “just the way it has to be” because they can’t be bothered to take control of their cat’s nutrition. This seems like an excellent tool to do just that without inducing a lot of stress. Just think how much one overweight-related emergency visit to the vet would cost, and if this appliance can prevent even one, it’s worth it.

this looks great i have an over sizes cat and we’ve been on the diet thing for two years now on and off but we can’t seem to control it.
the problem is i have two more cats who’s weight is just fine so i put their bowl in a high location but my fattie has figured it out and somehow she manges to get to their bowl during the night.

if this can work in a more then one cat household i might be willing to save up (if i change the amount to shekels- the money in israel. it goes about 1900 shekels which is a little over half my monthly salary… yeycks…).
thing is they don’t ship to my country…

all in all a cool and usebale producte but too expensive (even in dollars)

$500? Ouch! But honestly…in the long run if it helps you kitty keep his/her weight down, it might actually save in the long run with vet bills and all.

We’ve been feeding our two cats with a Perfect Pet Feeder since October 2008. Minerva has trimmed down considerably, and having a two cat household hasn’t mattered. If you feed small portions often, there seems to be much less stress around how much food they are getting. If one cat (Minerva) is a bit “piggish” and the other (Max) isn’t, the other one quickly learns when the food comes out and makes sure he gets his share. It has worked wonderfully, and well worth the expense. Best engineered consumer product I have seen in a long time.

  14. 14

Will this be a give-away? My friend’s kitty is super fat, and I’m trying to convince him his cat NEEDS one of these or something similar so the kitty can play again…

  15. 15

this should help my kitties too. i have three now. two are a little over a year……one eats everything and the other is rather picky. The new kitten has to at least try everything……..even stuff from my plate! This should help regulate their diets.

  16. 16

Gorgous, now I just need to start to save, lots, maybe Christmas/birthday/easter gift for the next 5 years?

    Buy Automatic Cat Feeders

My cat is obsessed with food and was constantly bugging my husband and myself to feed him every time we went into the kitchen. We thought an automatic food dispenser would be great. It took him a few days to get used to the fact that we weren’t going to feed him, but now he knows not to bug us. He kind of knows the times that it is set for. He also goes sprinting for the food the second he hears it drop.

  18. 18

The company that makes this oversize “Commercial Coffee maker” (feeder), should look at dropping the price. Most people who bought this, must haven’t realize that this feeder cost(about or just about) more than any appliance you own in your KITCHEN!!!
