Moderncat reader Karen sent in photos of this fabulous cat-friendly installation in her office which she has dubbed the “CubiCat.” It was created with Cubitec shelving, a completely modular system that allows you to configure a variety of levels and depths. Karen assembled the shelving to include tunnels and perching surfaces along with storage areas for office supplies. The shelves are made of super-strong durable polypropylene with each shelf supporting up to 55 lbs. Available in translucent white, orange, and lime green.

Karen’s cats Rolling Stone and Peanut Butter sure do love their CubiCat! And it looks like the folks at Cubitec liked the idea of a CubiCat so much, they created a special CubiCat shelving package.

My plan next is to install Flor carpet tiles to give them a softer place to dwell and scratch!

My cats would love this, better than their paper sack and box from the store, gives them more of a dimension for climbing

There are smaller versions, btw, if you don’t have as much room as we allocated for this…they’re fun to put together!

CubiCat 3 – $370 (2 kits total, 3 high by 3 deep): 52″ h x 52″ w x 30″ d
CubiCat 2 – $185 (1 kit total, 2 high by 2 deep): 35″ h x 35″ w x 20″ d

Wow. This is fantastic! And the COLORS! (I like the fact that it supports up to 55 lbs., too. In our family, it’d almost have to.

I’ve seen these before, and thought they were interesting. Now, seeing what you’ve done, I’m having visions of using the white ones to make a wrap-around cat-ly headboard. Maybe against an aqua-colored wall.
They’re definitely not cheap, but they’re not intended for home use. Office, retail spaces, etc. Maybe the prices will come down, given the state of the economy.
