These two beautiful new cat beds are being made available through a partnership between Moderncat fave Vurv Design and Vancouver-based Kilowatt Studio. Designer (and cat lover) Gregory Kenny of Kilowatt created these two beds, which are being distributed by Vurv.
The Nest (above left) is inspired by the intertwining branches of a bird’s nest while the Pod (above right) provides a sleek lounge spot for a moderncat. Both are individually handcrafted in Canada and made from wool, bamboo, and organic cotton. Good for kitty and good for the environment. And they sure are pretty to look at, too.

I think the nest design is sweet. However, it reminds me of my cat F’Blanche who longingly looks out the windows at the nearest tree which houses a BlueJay nest. I bet she wishes she could be in the nest with them. Maybe this bed would allow her fantasies an outlet? Anyway, nice job Kilowatt!!

I love this, my cat is obsessed with cubby’s and needs a new one- her little fury buns are always sleeping in it.

I love the Pod – wool felt is such a beautiful material!

Very nice! My cats would love it, mostly if they were raised, like on a trunk.

They look very comfortable!

Fab! A cat bed that will fit with my modern minimalist interior! Now lets see if you can do a cat tower???

Wow! Those are gorgeous … So modern and sleek. I bet that one of those would look excellent with me nestled inside!

Another Pod fan here. Although both are fetching. I know my clowder would cotton up to these quickly.

I could picture my cats in either bed. All curled up and oh soo warm. Nice lines and not fussy.

The Pod is so elegant and clean while the nest definitely looks inviting. Great designs and ideas on a common product. Dante may have to get one to cuddle up in!

My 2 newly adopted cats are currently sharing an old dog bed (or my bed). I know they would love either the Pod or the Nest. And I love the fact that they are both environmentally friendly!!! We are trying to decrease their carbon pawprints, and these would sure help!

So cute! I like the Pod.

These are beautiful. I love my cats and would love to buy these. But I can’t afford them. Please continue to post these well designed items. I’m saving up!

Lovely design but the prices are way out of line – $500 and $450!!!!! I would rather buy a lovely $200 bed and DONATE THE OTHER $300 TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER!

I love these beds, but I’ll have to make them myself. I have a couple of old wool coats that would be perfect! Felting old wool sweaters would work well too, that way you can match your decor, modern or classical. Just find an old wool sweater at a garage sale, then wash it a few times in very hot water. Voila! Heavy felted wool, perfect for kitty beds!

Part of the reason for the price is that 10% of each sale goes to the Vancouver Orphaned Kittens Rescue Association, a very wonderful organization. And they are all hand-crafted. If you are looking for price then you’ll have to go with stuff that’s mass-produced I guess.

They look great, but sadly my cats would rip those to shreds!
