Litter & Hygiene

As you know, we love the Litter-Robot, and now they have added some new product enhancements to make it even better. In response to feedback from cat owners who have larger cats, they have created the new Bubble Globe (above left). This new globe has a skylight-like window in the back that adds 3 inches of depth to the litter chamber and provides natural light. You can purchase a new unit with the Bubble Globe or you can get the new globe separately and use it on your existing base.

Another new feature is the Lip Extender (shown above right). This plastic accessory fits on the entrance of the globe and helps send loose litter and other “misses” back into the globe.

In addition to the new product enhancements, the Litter-Robot is now offering a special ramp/scratcher/litter catcher. The ramp is designed to be placed in front of the globe entrance to help smaller or older cats enter the box, plus the corrugated cardboard can be used for scratching and, because the ramp has a solid cardboard bottom, it will catch litter that is tracked out of the box.

I am maybe the biggest fan! I have six litter robots (for about 8 cats and various kittens at time) and just bought two new bubble globes – my cats are fairly big and it was only rarely a problem for them to use the robot correctly but I do like the bubble – it gives more room and some light. I’ve tried other automatic boxes but this one really works and cleaning litter boxes is SO much better now!! When I have small kittens, I just turn them off and run manually as needed. The new ramp and lip extender are both a huge help in keeping litter from being kicked out.

You have to already have paid several hundred dollars in order to be eligible to win a free something-you-already-have?

That makes me sad! I can’t afford one in the first place, which means I can’t try to win one!

  3. 3

Aw, I wish I had a litter robot so I could win a litter robot!

Too bad I can’t afford a litter robot. :( I have the world’s stinkiest cats. I had no idea two little cats could poop so much! I agree with Mo (and it’s not ModernCat’s fault, blame the Litter Robot people). No fair that you have to own one in order to win one. What about us poor people?

I have to admit that’s a bummer of a contest. Alas, I can’t be paying that kind of money for a litter box!

I bought 1 Litter Robot a couple of years ago, but my kitty family has growwwwn… I now have 10 kitties and only one Litter Robot, along with a couple of regular litter boxes, which are a huge hassle to keep clean.

I agree with the above comments. Why give a box to someone that already has one? Grrr. I guess we’ll have to find out who wins, maybe they’ll give us their old one. :)

Yes that’s sort of silly – you would think that a smart marketing program would encourage “newbies” to try a new product, not those who are already enrolled.

this contest doesn’t make much sense.. :(

We would love to have about 10 Litter Robots, but we cannot afford one right now. One of our kitties has been sick, and we have spent a lot of money for his treatment.

I hope they opt to let everyone enter , I love making videos of my boys , I have never made one of them using the litter box but to win this way cool one I would !

Ditto on the cost, but those improvements are very good ones, and I hope that whichever cat(s) win will, uh, use it in good health.

6 litter robots? geezeo that’s crazy, you’re *the* cat woman!! :)

…I used to have a litter robot. Sadly we had to return it. I think the improvements they’ve made though are almost exactly what our cats didn’t like… our biggest issue is we had one cat (out of two) that would kind of stand at the edge of the globe not always totally in.

Other than that, it’s a super cool product that actually delivers on the promise of an automatic scoop system (whereas others I’ve tried were more work maintaining them than just scooping). The size of it is probably an issue for most apartment dwellers, though.

The customer service at Litter Robot is beyond outstanding though.

Its great for rescuer that already have a litter robot to get better chances to win another one – ’cause they really need them !
    Thanks for the link !

For those of you that have 6+ litter robots, where do you put them all? In a basement or something? They’re not exactly small…

$349 + shipping??? Are they insane? Does my kitten look like he belongs to Donald Trump? LOL

It’s about time they did something about the dark black hole that cats must enter, that was the biggest complaint I had about it, black inside, no light at all and of course eventually the odor permeates the plastic and no way of getting rid of the smell. I was a fanatic about cleaning, emptying and still it now sits in my storage unit because eventually after one year’s use it just plain stunk. My one cat never did get the turning and sticking her head outside of the unit, lots of times she just went with her butt sticking outside. It just isn’t big enough inside,my cat isn’t large but she is tall and always exited the “Bot” shaking her head. It works for some cats and doesn’t for others. I may drag it out one day, hose it down and donate to a shelter.

It’s about time they got some light into the Orb. My one cat never got the idea of sticking her head out the doorway and was always going on the step and the electronic pad – what a mess. You also couldn’t take the step apart to clean-bad design. This is made for small cats if your cat is on the tall side, the tail drags along the top of the Orb. And then there is the smell after awhile the plastic absorbs ordors and no matter how fastidious you are the darn thing stinks. My one cat finally said enough is enough and starting going on the floor right next to the Bot. Initially I loved the product, but the cats and the odor won out – it’s sitting in my storage unit because at over$300 I’m not throwing it out.

Yah I agree with everyone else, I would gladly make a video if I had a litter robot to begin with.

aww this would be so cool to get for free. Not exactly rich, but would love to get this. Prone to forget the litter box, especially since it sits out on the balcony of my tiny little apartment lol.
