As the owner of two of the same breed (Oriental Shorthairs) I can tell you that these cats are not upset or unhappy in any measure. This is their look. Orientals "talk". They are very vocal and make noise almost all the time. They behave more like dogs than conventional cats.

"Ansel" wants the Paul Smith polka-dotted bowtie. And "Pasquale" loves the Dolce & Gabbana because he is the Italian pussycat.

Oh, one more thing- It is possible that the cats were "pissed" about the modeling deal since I wasn't personally there, but more likely they were posing. Cats, and dogs too, that model are chosen for their personalities and ability to perform in such a manner. In almost all professional settings they are well trained professional cats that are very pampered and think they're prima donnas (which isn't an insult on my part as nearly every cat thinks they are) and tend to show off so they aren't under durress in the modeling shoot but just doing what they are trained and used to doing. If a cat is bothered by it, or upset at all they simply find a cat model who isn't. Unfortunately I can't say that every time it is the case as we all now not every person submits to the same morals and rules as society, but in pictures such as these there is nothing close to animal cruelty... some cats like to show off (my cats enjoy being posed in front of cameras, though I am talking personal pics and not modeling shoots).
But I also want to be clear that I am not posting this with the intent of arguing with those who posted unhappy comments about the pictures- I only wanted to attempt to ease their concerns as I abhore any sort of cruelty to any animal, not just cats, as well.
Thanks and sorry for the length!

Absolutely a wonderful way to show off bags, what better way than some even more stylish cats!
I am wondering though, if anyone can tell me, what kind of cat is Indie... she does have an amazing face but I can't place the breed.

One more thing, cats rarely get big press like this, it's always the dogs, so I thought it was a fun thing to share!

a f r - This photographer specializes in animal photography and he has some beautiful work, which I think highlights what amazing creatures they are. I wouldn't post anything that looked like the animals were being tortured. I see your point, however. Although I don't think anyone was harmed in this photo shoot, they do look a little pissed.

I try to include other things on the blog besides cat products, like stories about cat-related fashion, art, style, and design, to add some variety. Sorry if you were offended!

NOT cute. Animals are not props. I am sorry to see this posted here, Kate. The blog is usually wonderful, but it's about cat items, not cats used to glorify leather bags and bow ties in a men's magazine.

Indi and Delta don't look too happy and I can almost hear their complaint. Cat's faces express so much, specially eyes and ears. LOL!

Can't help but think that Delta and Indie are less than thrilled about modeling. Delta's expression certainly seems to imply that the photographer shouldn't sleep soon. lol
