If you’re at work today, you can forget about getting anything done after reading this. I came across this simple — and incredibly addictive — web-based game called Chat Noir. You simply click on the light green circles to turn them dark green. Each time you click, the little black cat jumps to another circle. The goal is to encircle the cat with dark green circles before he reaches the edge and scurries away. It’s really tricky! Try it for yourself.
For those of you in the US, you just found your Fourth of July weekend activity.

OMG, I cannot do it!

It took me many tries, but it is possible. It seems to be all about where the dark green dots are when you start. I can’t stop playing! Thank goodness this isn’t available on the iPhone!

Great game! Can’t do it though!

I sent this link to my husband via IM, since he’s unfortunate enough to be working today. Then he disappeared. Almost half an hour later, he finally returned to our chat with this message: “I’m dominating this circle the cat game. I just won 6 times in a row.” HA HA HA!

Got it on the first try, but I think it really depends on how many dots you get to start with! If there were only four or five dots it became impossible…

Just tried resetting a bunch of times in a row…it’s definitely weird that the number of dark dots you get to start with varies so much. I’ve seen as few as 5 and as many as 12. Makes a difference! I’ve definitely been able to solve it several times, so if you’re striking out each time, reset it until you get a screen with more dots. (Placement of the dots also counts, but you clearly get a benefit to more dots.)

Made it!!!, finally… no kidding that cat is smart!… Great game I would like to know how it was developed. As a Flash developer all creative games I find are indeed something to inspire me!
Thanks for sharing!

I did it! It took about 6 tries – it’s pretty challenging!

This was pretty easy. I got it on the third shot. You have to realize that you can just square the cat and click the whole border of the square without him beating you to it first.

I did it, woo!

This is tough! He’s a sly kitty!

This is fantastic! I am not at work, so I have plenty of time to win this. Thanks

OMG! I just randomly found this game last night and just now saw this post. Hilarious.
That darn cat is tricky, but I got him once. I have the feeling I’ll be obsessively trying to do it again….

fun game! i got it on the 2nd try…needed to see how the little kitty moved!
GAME TIP:
-don’t focus SO much on trapping the cat as closing off the last rows (in a circular fashion) 1st! Once you have done that you need to keep on going into where the cat is (drk circles surrounding him/her) ’till the kitty is only on one green dot, surrounded by brown. it’ll then take you to the next level/game!
GOOD LUCK!

yay. i did it.

Like I need another addiction! Thanks Kate!

It’s not that hard if you have the right strategy. Did it in two tries.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:43 am
finally got it! it’s all about the perimeter.
July 4th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
taking a little break…facebook is becoming an addiction.

i gave up I couldn’t win. It reminds me of chasing down my cats to get them to the vet. I don’t usually win then either and they get away.

Got it in three tries!

I also like the “Nom Nom Nom 4 Fud” game. It’s not as frustrating and kinda like a cross between pool and pinball where you aim the kitty, pull his tail to “wind him up” and then “shoot” him at balls of yarn and pieces of food to eat to score points. You have to plan your shots because there are various obstacles in the way and you only get a certain number of tries, so it gets trickier as you progress.

Just delightful. Something that stirs the thrill of the chase.

a strangely enticing time waster

This game is pretty easy. all you have to do is see where the cat heads first and block off the edge there

FunFunFun! Took a few tries to get a stratedgy but I love it!
