I think this is a really good design. I didn’t think cats would bend down to scratch something so this makes sense to me. They seem to like to stretch when scratching. Is the bottom part supposed to fit under the couch or other furniture? This is what I thought it was for. I think also cats like very sturdy surfaces that don’t move when they dig their claws into it.

Hi there, this is Jeremy from CatLivin. We are so happy that you took the time to comment on the wedge. This piece was designed specifically with the owner and their home in mind. We mocked up a bunch of these with full scratch area and found that our cats only used the top ten inches. So why waste beautiful wood?

Very sleek looking. A nice change from some of the tacky cat stuff you see. Would not have to hide this piece of furniture when company comes.

Love it, especially the fact that it can go in any room you design it for. The easy access is great for the kitties…so they can, of course, be comfortable while scratching on something other than my couch.

Had the same toughts, then checked out the website and was very disappointed with the layout of it – no ‘terms and conditions’, really hard to register as potential customer and no way to choose from the different colors/combinations (tried it in two browsers and Mac/PC, didn’t work on either). But I figured that the scratcher would be rather easy to make – there are instrucions on how to build similar chairs (medieval design) on the net out there somewhere. Combine this with the know-how about carpet tiles and the way to fix them as posted on this blog – voila, there’s your scratcher! Now I just need time to actually make one…

It does seem odd that the whole front is not covered with the scratch material. That makes it look odd, kinda like one of those stands people use to hold papers while at a computer.

bleh. I saw this earlier and commented, and it still bothers me. Why can’t the whole front be carpet? Seems like a waste, and I can imagine my cat’s back claws sliding around on the laminate. No good.
