great post! I crawl around on the floor a lot, taking spy pictures of my cats. some cats really like being photographed and look stunning in every photo.

other cats are making funny faces all the time (like my russian) and he’s very used to the camera so I can take how many pictures I want and he doesn’t care.

then we have little misa, our fold girl kitten – she’s so shy so I really have to hide and wait for her to come out of her hiding place so I can get a photo. it’s worth the effort!

Edyta’s tips are great. Choosing lighting and getting on your knees to take pix of animals from their perspective is key. Photographing cats is a challenge, but if you get their attention long enough with treats (get a friend to distract the cat while you take the shots), the results will be rewarding!

Bringing the cats to higher surfaces helps if you don’t want to clean the floor with your clothes when photograhing!

yay K the post looks great!! you’re right, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to photograph your cat…but with some patience, bribing and fast shutter speed it all works in the end thanks for the compliments everyone!

edyta, gorgeous photos as always (i might be biased–she was my wedding photographer)! her passion for what she does is so apparent in whatever she’s capturing–she does an amazing job at capturing personality–whether it’s human, canine, or feline! she’s also truly a pleasure to work with…

Edyta has some wonderful tips and her photos are soulful! I find that having cameras handy around the house can make for some great opportunities to capture my beloved cats’ moods. Lots of toys and cat furniture, full bird feeders close outside, and lots of windows for them to see out help, too.

My coco is definitely shy,but i’ve only had her for a little over a month.
I hope she warms up to my camera someday soon! great photos though and moments caught on camera.

I used to have a cat who always seemed to take good photos, no matter how bad my technique was. I think sometimes that cats are like people, where you get certain ones that are “naturals” at looking good in photos. That said, the photos here are beautiful! I think patience is definitely important, and a willingness to keep trying.

I really enjoy looking at your photos. My family has one cat and we all enjoy watching what he will do next and we try to capture everything he does by taking a lot of pictures. Now, I look back to all those pictures when we first got him to what he does now. Its great to see his change in personality.

I just love looking at your pictures and you can see their personalities and how beautiful each cat comes out.

My cat miraculously knows when I want to take a pic of her… She loves herself! hehe. Toys help add more to the picture and their personality!

She makes it sound so easy but even photographing your own cat is so hard. many times it takes dozens of blurry pictures before one gets a good one. Patience and a fast shutter are your best bet.
