No one wants to be in an emergency situation with their pet, but if something happens, having the answers at your fingertips might come in handy. That’s exactly what this new iPhone application Pet First Aid offers. Packed full of useful information in an easy to navigate interface, Pet First Aid could help you find the answers you’re looking for to save your pet’s life.
The application is organized into 14 main categories:
- Emergency Situations
- Heart & Breathing
- Fundamentals
- What’s Normal
- Disaster Preparedness
- Bites & Stings
- Bloat & Torsion
- Burns
- Eyes, Ears, & Nose
- Fractures & Sprains
- Head & Spinal Injuries
- Heat & Cold Injuries
- Poisoning
- Wounds
Each section includes an introduction, symptoms, first aid, and prevention information often supplemented with illustrations and even full video to further explain the topic. All information is stored on your iPhone so you can even use it when no connection is available.
You can also store important information about each of your pets in the application, such as veterinary contact info, identifications, vaccinations, medications, allergies and other conditions that you might need to know in an emergency.
Pet First Aid was developed by PetTech of Vacaville, a company specializing in pet first aid and emergency preparedness training, in conjunction with Jive Media, application development specialists.
You can purchase Pet First Aid from the Apple iPhone App Store for just $3.99.

Like they say, There’s an app for everything! I think this is great for cat lovers, but why stop at cats? How about for dogs, horses, etc! Great forsight!

That’s wonderful. I recommend everyone to get some pet first aid training. I am dog & cat first aid certified by the American Red Cross and feel more confident about the future. Check this link to see how important it is to be prepared for emergencies: http://www.thedailytail.com/?p=2977

Now they just need to make an Android version for us non-iPhone users.

Any way to get some real-world reviews? App reviews on iTunes have been riddled with fake reviews posted by PR people posing as actual users lately.

I don’t think that in case of an emergency, I’ll go and check my iPhone. Daniela Caride makes a point though; even though I’ve never heard of pet’s first aid, I’m going to check it on the internet and commit it to memory.
In case of an emergency, I know I take my cat and leave my phone (already did that)… and I can’t leave my memory on the table either.

Plus, by definition, in an emergency, I won’t have the time to check the app !
Imagine… “my God, the cat is choking !” “Wait, I’ll go check the iPone app !!”.
Yep, the human brain still rocks !
