Here’s a sweet solution for creating a DIY litter box hider. We’ve seen other DIYs using cabinets with entry cutouts, but instead of cutting a regular old square, what about making a cool cat silhouette – very nice!

That looks really good. I’m not sure I’d be able to do it myself though, it’d probably end up really messy.

This is a cute idea. I think I would balance it out and give more air circulation by maybe cutting out a moon and star or something else on the other door also.

Love this! It’s a great Moderncat idea. My ex and I did this to make a cat-shaped window for one of our outdoor wallmounted cathouse/feeders for community cats. It did look great, and it was easy to do, too! For the actual window, we used thick plexiglass. Sorry no digital photos of it, though.

An even more custom idea… get out that digital camera, try to capture your cat in the perfect sitting silhouette pose. Print it out to the desired size. Or to letter size paper and enlarge on a xerox machine etc whatever is aligned with your equipment and skills. You may want to perfect your silhouette with a pencil or marker. Now you have your very own cat’s silhouette to use as the cut out guide.
I love Jennifer P’s air circulation ideas… how about a mouse in the top of the other door? Or another cat (what, you don’t have two cats?!
on the other door.
Personally, I have had trouble with litter box compliance for some cats using enclosed boxes. Some like them, some don’t. They don’t want to go in there and feel trapped, and it sets up a perfect ambush opportunity by another cat upon exit. Right now I can’t use an enclosed box. So if you have an enclosed box AND a “why isn’t the cat using the litter box?” problem, this may be something to consider (after consideration #1: a urinary tract infection)

What a cute idea. Reminds me of the cutouts the people did in the book The Cat’s House. They built elevated ramps and stairs for their cats to travel from one room to the other and had cut similar places in their walls to connect the passages.

That is cute. Really simple and strong idea. Maybe a jigsaw? I know that if you go to IStockPhoto.com one could find allot of neat cat outlines… maybe those could be used as a template for cutting? Here’s an example that uses other animal shapes: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-1300501-large-animal-silhouette-collection.php

You know on old fashioned out houses they have a moon? Well put a moon above the cat!
