Toilet training your cat. They say it can be done, and CitiKitty has put together a complete Cat Toilet Training Kit to help make it incredibly easy. Now, I haven’t tried this yet myself, but after reading all about the CitiKitty I think I’m going to give it a shot.

The kit includes a training seat that is placed underneath the toilet seat to transition your cat from the litter box to the toilet. There’s also a training guide and a tip sheet, plus a packet of CitiNip catnip for use during the training process. The training guide has explicit instructions on how to first move your cat from using the litter box to using the toilet with litter, and then to using just the toilet with no litter. It’s a multi-step process that can be used with any cat that is healthy, at least three months old, and already successfully litter-box trained. It is also possible to train multiple cats at once.

According to CitiKitty, the benefits of toilet training your cat include:
- NO MORE LITTER MESS Toilet trained cats do not use kitty litter, eliminating the mess and smell of a litter box from your home.
- BETTER FOR YOUR CAT Because your cat is toilet trained they will no longer be exposed to chemicals and silica dust found in many litter brands, which has been proven to cause respiratory and other health-related problems in cats.
- SAVE $$$ Toilet trained cat owners have the luxury of not having to purchase kitty litter, saving them thousands of dollars.
- BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT Each year more than 4 billion pounds of kitty litter is sent to landfills in the United States. Most of that litter is made from strip mined clay which is a non-renewable resource. By toilet training your cat you help preserve precious resources.
- MORE TIME FOR YOUR CAT Why spend endless hours cleaning up a litter box when you can be spending it playing with your cat!
Now, this may not be for every cat, but there are an awful lot of comments from satisfied customers on the CitiKitty website, and there seem to be quite a few success stories, so it just might work for your cat.
A few words about flushing cat feces
This is a controversial topic, as we found out last year during Litter Week. I uncovered some important information, first read this post about the problems that can be caused by flushing cat feces, then make sure to read the follow-up post about how it can be quite safe to flush in most situations.

wow! I had no idea that such a thing existed! I would love to get rid of the litter box! This is a great idea and the winner is going to be very lucky..if I don’t win I’m going to have to buy this!

I’ve been thinking about to toilet train my Brownie for quick some time. I’ve done some research and make sure she is healthy and it’s safe to flush her feces. Now I’m considering what product to use for the training–there are so many similar kits out there…

I need this so bad with 3 cats. The cat litter in my house gets spread to different rooms.I have smart cats so Im sure this would teach them really fast. Cant wait to get one.
November 11th, 2009 at 9:31 am
this would be soo awesome and useful if we could train our 2 cats to do this! Our older female cat goes #2 on the floor if there isnt enough litter box so we always have to make sure to clean it up before the dog finds it. We also have a almost 1 year old daughter crawling around and learning to walk. our litter box is in the laundry room and she always wants to be in their with mommy but I dont want her discovering the litter box and start burying her toys in there, AGH! we have quite the busy hoiuse but wouldnt trade our life for anything!!

o0 this sounds exciting!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:32 am
I have never tried it – but I’m sure there are great benefits, like less mess and the cost savings re: litter, scoopers etc. Thanks – this is a super giveaway!

I have always said that I had wanted to toilet train our kitties. It seemed like it would have been a lot easier when I had just the one…it would be interesting to see if we could get all 3 to go on the toilet!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:36 am
Since I’m the official scooper for the house, I’d love to give this a try. We have a litter box design with a hole in the lid, and one of our cats is already sitting on the lid to do her business, then covering it over afterward. The other cat is borderline OCD about covering up her mess and very curious about the toilet. Maybe this would work! My only question is, do they teach them how to flush? This might be hard with our dual flush toilet’s button mechanism. Still — it would be way better than litterboxing.

I would like to train my 6 months old kitten, but he likes to drink from the toilet (even though we’re trying to stop this and keep the lid closed) so I’m wondering if he would even consider to go potty in the toilet
) Anyone who had this experience before???

I take care of stray cats (and their kittens!), and sometimes the litter box can become overwhelming. It would be great if we could get even one of our three permanent cats toilet trained – more money for kitten food and spaying!

I’ve been eyeing this product for a while. I have thought about making the switch, but I’ll have to do something about the fact that my cat loves to unspool the toilet paper. Maybe she’s trying to tell me something.
November 11th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I have 3 kitties, one of them is only 4 months old and he is already very intrigued by the toilet. I have a feeling it would be easy to train him at the very least!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I’ve wanted to do this for so long!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:44 am
Wonderful invention, I want to see my cat sitting there !!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Would this work for cats who still have issues with the litterbox for no good reason?
Maybe they’ve just been waiting all this time for me to toilet train them!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:47 am
It would be great if we could train our cats, but with five of them, I think we’d need a second bathroom.
November 11th, 2009 at 9:48 am
I’ve always wanted to be able to potty train my cat! I never knew there was a product out there to do just that! I think this is great!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:52 am
Oh, I’ve been wanting to do this for ages! Wondering if all 3 would be able to make the change? It’s worth a try…
November 11th, 2009 at 9:52 am
we’ll see
November 11th, 2009 at 9:53 am
i caught one of my cats on the toilet once. using it properly, in fact. have never seen her do it again! i have 4 kitties, and this would be GREAT. i have two bathrooms, so one of them could be all theirs!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:54 am
It would be nice, but I’m skeptical!!!!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:56 am
I’ve always wondered if my cats would do the toilet thing. They love to scratch in the litter box so I wonder if it’d work. They seriously sit in the box for 20 minutes after they’ve gone scratching anything they can touch. I’d love to switch them to toilets, because the sound of the scratching drives me nuts!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:58 am
This system is amazing!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:59 am
With two cats and three litter boxes to accomodate them, this would certainly be a boon!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:59 am
How odd is this? I was just thinking this morning that I might try to train Taz! I did try to train our other cat K-9 when he was little but he was more stubborn than I and I did not succeed. The kit looks like it might be very useful.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:00 am
looks cool!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:00 am
Awesome! I thought the cat (Jinx) from Meet the Parents was the only one who could do this. We would love to give it a try with our Bengal brood. I don’t know anyone with a toilet trained cat, and we would love to be the first we know.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:01 am
This is a brilliant idea. I have thought about trying to toilet-train my cat before, but didn’t know where to begin, so I really like the step-by-step process of this kit. I’m not entirely sure my cat would enjoy it, as he seems to be afraid of the toilet, but maybe this could help him get used to it! I love the thought of less money, less mess, and less waste, just flush it down like we do!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:01 am
I love my Rosie cat and enjoy her company. After many years of cat companionship, I have to admit that I decided that Rosie will be my LAST cat due to the cat litter work and my being disabled. I just can’t handle the work anymore. IF I can potty train my cat …any litter problems would definitely would be resolved and I will continue to enjoy cats for the res of my life!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:02 am
Yes!!! This would be great to use for my four darlings! Pick me please!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:02 am
I’d love to have my cat use the toilet…she is still a kitten and is always checking out what it is i’m doing on the toilet.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:03 am
Wow, I would love to reduce my environmental impact by not using kitty litter. Great idea!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:05 am
With 5 cats this would be very cool –0- and my cats are smart!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:07 am
Always wanted to try this …
November 11th, 2009 at 10:07 am
I would love to train my cats to use the toilet. Living in coastal California, though, I do worry about toxo. Definitely time to have my guys tested and see if they have it . . . it would be so great to remove litter from our lives!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Oh please I would love this! I foster kittens. This would be great!!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:10 am
It would be wonderful to toilet train my cats! I have three of them, and unfortunately only have enough room in my small apartment to keep one large litterbox.
My kids would probably be happy to never have to wait for me to come home from a long day at school just too scoop their poop!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:11 am
No more litter box? Could it even be possible???
November 11th, 2009 at 10:11 am
I’d like to give this a try. I have the smartest cat in the world, afterall.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:12 am
Omg! this is an awesome product! Would love it for my kitty!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:13 am
my husband and i were just talking about trying this the other day. i wonder if it works for older cats.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:15 am
I’ve tried to toilet train my cats a few years back unsuccessfully. This kit seems very promising and I’d really like to try it out.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:18 am
If I could get my guys to learn this it would be amazing!
It sure help, my dogs want to help clean out the litter
box.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:22 am
It’s worth a try for my younger cats!
To not have to handle cat feces would be great.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:23 am
This training kit sounds wonderful! I’ve read about cats that use the toilet and often wished that our two could be trained to do this-seems like it would be so much healthier all the way around for kitties and their humans!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:25 am
That is awesome! It would be so much easier to share a toilet with my cats than having their own box in my tiny bathroom. It would also save money when you wouldn´t have to buy catlitter anymore.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:29 am
I’ve been trying to get Woodgie to associate the toilet with goingto the bathroom. She potties in her box when you tell her you’re going to the potty. She seems to understand what potty mans, but we still have the toilet to associate. This would be a big improvement…
November 11th, 2009 at 10:30 am
I wonder if it would work with older cats. I have them from 18 years to four years. Can you teach and old cat a new trick?
It would be interesting to try, and see what they do when explaining it to them
November 11th, 2009 at 10:31 am
I would love to try this with my 2 cats! Would save so much money with litter!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:32 am
I need this so badly.
I have wanted to try this for ages, but I assumes my cats would be so resistant to it,but at this point,I need a serious reprive .
As soon as I have some money,i’ll buy at least 2 of them and see if I can get them to comply.
Oyyy
Xxoo
