Toilet training your cat. They say it can be done, and CitiKitty has put together a complete Cat Toilet Training Kit to help make it incredibly easy. Now, I haven’t tried this yet myself, but after reading all about the CitiKitty I think I’m going to give it a shot.
The kit includes a training seat that is placed underneath the toilet seat to transition your cat from the litter box to the toilet. There’s also a training guide and a tip sheet, plus a packet of CitiNip catnip for use during the training process. The training guide has explicit instructions on how to first move your cat from using the litter box to using the toilet with litter, and then to using just the toilet with no litter. It’s a multi-step process that can be used with any cat that is healthy, at least three months old, and already successfully litter-box trained. It is also possible to train multiple cats at once.

Now, this may not be for every cat, but there are an awful lot of comments from satisfied customers on the CitiKitty website, and there seem to be quite a few success stories, so it just might work for your cat.

my girlfriends been begging me to give this a try. my friend started it on his 6 month old cat, and last i heard, it was working. we got our girl at a year and a half, so hopefully the transition will be okay.

I bought a special potty/litter box a while back, but my kitty thought it was too small and didn’t feel comfortable on it, so it sat in the corner looking cool, but unused. I would love for my kitty to use the toilette to get him and me away from the dust of litter. My house gets so dusty and every time I clean I get more worried about the effects the litter has on kitty’s health and mine. Oh this would be so great! My cat loves to kick litter ALL OVER the place while using the litter box (which, by the way, is covered!). Not to mention I feel guilty at all the waste I’m creating every week using litter/ cleaning up/ etc.

I have been thinking about trying to toilet train my cat for awhile now. It would be SO much easier to not have to lug around those huge, heavy bags of littler and finally not have it constantly all over the bathroom floor. I use a natural litter, but I still feel bad throwing it away, most trash bags are plastic so I feel like even if it would biodegrade, it’s not happening while it’s trapped in plastic! This would be such a great solution, I just worry Yuri might miss digging around in her litter box.

I would LOVE to give this a try! I had purchased the entire Tidy Cats pad system when it came out last year, and three of my four cats went with it, but b/c of the fourth, I could not completely remove clay litter from my house, and since my other three would prefer clay over the new system, I had no choice but to admit defeat and go back to regular litter! So close! While we transitioned, it was already a huge imporvement to not have that stuff scattered all over the place, and I use really high litter boxes. I would give citikitty a solid chance, and hope that maybe this is what the fourth kitty would find acceptable. I could tell that she didn’t care for how the pellets felt on her precious little paws, which is why she stuck wthe clay litter. No litter at all would be a blessing!

This is really cool. My cat poops in the shower sometimes instead of her litter box and we’ve been trying to train her out of it but I just think she loves the bathroom. This might be the solution.

about 5 or 6 months ago i adopted out 2 Felv+ cats I had been fostering for 9 months….their new mom recently called to tell me the boy cat, Eric toilet trained!!! When he stayed with me he was locked up in a bedroom 24/7, as to not expose my healthy cats.
it would be nice if i could rain one of my permanent resident cats to use a toilet, maybe eliminate one of the 6 litter boxes in my home!!

A couple years ago me and my roommate trained our two cats to use the toilet. my cat unfortunately was older and wouldnt always use the toilet. after a couple months had to go back to litter boxes.
still, one of the coolest things is when you get home from work and want to go the to the bathroom. but when you walk in you see your cat staring back like, hey wait your turn.

I have heard about this from other sources recently as well. I think my only problem would be that there is only one toilet in my house, and lifting out the pan for human use would be a royal pain. If it wasn’t for that, I would LOVE to toilet train our cats. With three of them in the house, we go through a lot of litter. I bet my husband would be happy to stop hauling around heavy bags of litter, too!

I’ve never tried this before, but I think it would be GREAT for my two cats! It would free up so much room in our super small townhouse, and would totally cut down on that smell! I would slso love to cut down on waste.

My friend used this product for her two cats but had to stop because they would pack the toilet by the time she would get home. I was considering this one too because I have 3 cats, but I think I may try to train 1 cat and let the other two use the litter box. One of my cats is really finicky with the litterbox and this may alleviate her stress. It is a pretty smart contraption.
As for the article, well… cat feces or human feces or any animal feces, somewhere out there… there are other animals or people who will get affected by the crap that is released into the world. I’d rather have it controlled and sent to a water treatment plant for better disposal instead of tossing litter into landfills or tossing feces into the ocean or running waters.

this is a great idea! i have been wanting to train my new kittens, and as a result have been reading about it online and watching videos on youtube. different people suggest different things, like strainers and what not to put the litter in. but i like that they have a kit! i would have never thought of looking for a kit! if i won, i would totally post a video on youtube about it. thanks!

This seems like a wonderful product. We have 6 cats and go through a enormous amount of litter each year. We have tried more “green” litter products, but to not have to use any at all would be wonderful!!!!
Do you have a product for cat hair too?
