Steve, I think it’s a great idea. Have you considered something similar but for use with a Stolen or similar pole mounted system?
I just built my cats an awesome tree right by our 14th story window and I doubt I could pry them off to sleep on anything. But a couple of futuristic cat covered cat beds on top would be perfect. My experience has been t keep everything as light as possible but not to worry too much about keeping the individual components balance as the Stolmen is very sturdy and you can always change the arrangement to distribute the weight more evenly.
I hacked my own cat tree but I’d pay for yours. Really nice work!!

This bed looks very nice. I wonder what the bed portion is made of? Memory foam would be a great idea perhaps. Cats are so tactile and softness and a fabric cover (microfleece?) would be important too. As pictured the bed would not appeal to my cat.

My cat would not want to sleep next to his food but some will. I’d suggest offering the bed with a single long section of scratching material in lieu of the food areas.

I love this. I want to purchase one for my kitties. I think most of you are wayyy to harsh on Steve. It is brilliant design, and not every design is intended to meet everyones needs. I however love this and want one for myself. Great job Steve, and i look forward to seeing your next cat bed.

I can see cats sleeping in it and on top of it. I agree with those who criticize the food in the sleeping area; mine would surely end up falling in the water or kicking food onto the floor (not that they don’t do the latter anyway).

Interesting, the first thing that came to mind was how I could use this for two of my cats. One would love it as an eating station (sit on the bed area and use the bowls). She’d also use it as a general ‘sitting’ area although not for sleeping unless I put a thin bedcover over it. She is almost blind and is often harassed by one of the others. The top and back would make her feel secure and she’d have an easy water access of her own.

The second cat would sleep on it and use it as an eating station. It looks like a firm surface and she only likes to sleep on hard, cooler areas like the wood floor or dining table. She prefers to be fed right next to her sleeping area and has a water bowl next to her as well. My guys are all meal fed so these two would not be technically sleeping next to food, but to lentilki: obviously you’ve not been to my house I have a great photo of the second one mentioned above asleep with her chin in her empty bowl. LOL

Anyway, this would solve a couple problems for me and is certainly much nicer and attractive than the cardboard box I use for one. My others may not use it, but it’s a great design, Steve.

This looks uncomfortable. Cat stuff must be FIRST for the cat, and only then for the human eye, IMO. This is one I’ll skip!

The food tray is meant to be taken out or inserted into the bed. Yes, there are cats who may not like the idea of sleeping by the food, but I have tested this product and most really don’t mind it. When traveling this feature comes in handy. Thanks for the feedback.

I have to disagree. My cat sleeps right by her food with no problem. I like this idea and I think it’s a great idea that is different than anything I’ve seen. Have you people ever tried having the food by the bed? Wow I’m ammused by the negative comments. It’s a cat people…

I have never seen a cat do anything around it’s food but try to cover it…LOL The modern design and bed concept is nice but I’m afraid it would be to open for my cat. Some things that look great are not very functional and this may be one of them. Happy New Year everyone! Jana
