Glass and steel and a place for kitty to nap, what could be more Moderncat? This gorgeous table, designed by Koichi Futatsumata from Japanese design firm Case-Real, combines sleek modern materials with a comfy rattan hammock for kitty to lounge in. Designed to put kitty on display, as in a museum showcase or store window, this is completely in keeping with my decorating style. I believe that cats should be given beautiful–but cozy–places to lounge so they can become the art in your home. What do you think?

This is the coffee table of my dreams! I too think my cats are the greatest works of art in my home.

Absolutely love it. I tried to convince my mom to put her cat bed on the lower shelf of her glass-topped coffee table, but she wouldn’t go for it. This, I would so do.

I bet our kitties would be interested in objects laid on the glass desk and try to catch them from below

This is beautiful. My cats would love this because it has the overhead component, but also the hammock think going for it. My only qualm would be if you’ve ever had a glass top table with cats, you are cleaning A LOT. Their little feet walking all over it (especially if they’ve recently been in the litter box) make tons of marks that require daily if not twice daily cleanings. Otherwise, I love it!

January 24th, 2010 at 8:30 am

This is absolutely gorgeous and yes I would love to have one in my home; I’m particularly impressed by the kitty-curve already woven into the rattan.
However, Kush, as he daily reminds me, is more than a work of art. And he would probably freak out if he saw a magazine being casually tossed on (a glass tabletop above) him, or even felt the vibration of it landing. I bet other ex-strays would, too. If this ever goes into production I hope they seriously consider that sort of thing.

Stunning on every level….

OMG My 6 cats would love this they could lay on the bottom and they would try and get what is on the glass!!!! I would love to have this in my cat room.
January 24th, 2010 at 2:02 pm
What an amazing idea, I love this!
January 24th, 2010 at 5:42 pm
Neat, multi-FUNctional idea. It seems like cat hair would stick to the bottom of the glass, so I would prefer a wooden top instead of glass. It’s cool that the glass lets you see your lounging kitty though.

Hmm looks like they took a metal/glass coffee table, flipped the table upside down and put the glass on the top. add a cat hammok and … obviously a moneymaker…Cheap
