This month we have another great giveaway from one of my favorite companies, DKcat. One lucky reader will take home a sleek, handmade DKcat scratching post. Just like all DKcat products, the scratching post uses natural, durable materials that are eco-friendly, such as reclaimed wood and natural sisal rope. All of DKcat’s designs are clean and modern but also functional for kitties. The winner will get to choose one of four finish combos: chocolate + tan, blonde + tan, blonde + grey, or blonde + stripes.
EXTRA CHANCE TO WIN!
To enter the monthly giveaway, make sure you’re signed-up to receive Moderncat updates via email. If you’re already getting the updates but you’d like an EXTRA chance to win this month, please leave a comment on this post. The drawing will take place on February 28. Complete details on the monthly giveaway here. This giveaway includes shipping to the continental US. Readers outside the continental US may enter if they are willing to pay the extra shipping costs.

My kitty girl would love to get her paws on this scratching post. I love the platform base. Looks very stable!
February 4th, 2010 at 9:04 pm
ooo, my couches could sure use a break from my three kitties.
February 4th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
These are great! It’s hard to find modern looking scratch posts with sisal rope, I’d love to give my girls an excuse to exercise their claws in a good way!

these posts will fit in with any decor, most of all from experience i know cats love the sisal rope scratchers .

Panthro REALLY needs a new scratching post!! The fine old man of only 14 months…he’s let me know in not so subtle ways that he’s grown out of his old scratcher.
hmm…maybe this one.

my kitties would love the wide base – and their stylish!

I love the clean design of this scratcher. I would love to see a larger version 5-6′ or taller. The look is so much nicer than shag carpet, and my cats seem to like the sisal better.

I like how stable this scratching post seems to be. I will be getting a Pixie Bob very soon and I think he would love this scratching post.
Thank you, Roxanne

Very cool. Why didn’t someone think of an off-centered scratching post before?!
February 5th, 2010 at 7:55 am
My kitty would adore this!
February 5th, 2010 at 8:03 am
Very fashionable for the felines in my house!

I’d love to be able to give this to the asst. manager of the apartments I live in. She’s also kind of the ‘crazy cat lady’ of the apartments, but we share a love of cats. I can’t afford to get one of my own, but she’s perfectly fine with me coming over to her place for a ‘kitty fix’, and I’d love to be able to show her(and the cats!) my appreciation.

This looks wonderful. I have a Siamese who can never quite make up his mind whether he prefers to scratch horizontally or vertically, this fits the bill for him. He can do both. Half the time he shreds my sofa. The other half his scratching post. His post has already seen much better days and sheds shag rug fiber all over.
I love the idea of eco-friendly sisal and wood. The idea of being around another outgassing carpet and glue scratching post was very unappealing.

I just threw out the old scratching post/2-tiered house. Checkers would never go inside the house, but he loved scratching it. This post would be perfect, and I have the perfect spot for it. Thanks.

February 6th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
im already an email subscriber–please count me in!
February 6th, 2010 at 10:43 pm
Unfortunately, this post is not ideal as it has an offset base which can topple, then the cat develops a negative association with the post and won’t use it. Great concept, just center the post for safety.
February 7th, 2010 at 12:18 am

February 7th, 2010 at 3:03 am

February 7th, 2010 at 10:11 pm
My kitty loves to tear up all the furniture, curtains, bedding and anything that is made of nice, tearable fabric. She also loves a proper scratch on a proper scratching post… this modern design would be right up her alley.
