Jessie had some old weathered wood and an idea to make a rustic looking coffee table. Little did she know that it would be the perfect lounging area for her cats. The little patch of grass and the catnip garden are a perfect touch. (Don’t worry, she sealed the wood so the paint chips won’t flake off.)
Here’s a link to Jessie’s original post.

That’s great! I keep having ideas of things I could build for my cats, but I’ve been afraid to start – my skills aren’t what they could be.

Oooo, this would be awesome for my indoor kidders.

Now, if I can just get someone to build one for Cassie, life will be bliss!
February 25th, 2010 at 7:51 am
Wahoo! I love that cats just go where they please.
February 25th, 2010 at 7:55 am
Great idea!
Cats like freedom , how can you keep them on the leash,Jessie ?
February 25th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Thanks everybody! It’s been a big hit with the kitties and it really has mostly kept them out of the rest of my plants. Kikusia- only one of my (4) cats wears a leash outside because she has been known to leap off the deck and get lost for hours at a time. I live in a city so that isn’t safe for her. It’s not actually tied to anything– just having it on seems to discourage her from leaping.

That a cool project, even if it wasn’t cat-approved.

Love this innovative cat table!

Re: Etakeh, comment 2:
Go ahead and build! Use cheap materials, like Jessie’s weathered wood, and give it a shot. Your skills will only improve and I think your cats will like what you build, even if it’s a bit rough.

Now if those were our kitties on that table, the plants would be totally dug up and shredded. But that does look like a great idea. Like the table.
February 25th, 2010 at 12:33 pm
Hmm..I think I do need to build one for indoors!

This table fits in exactly with our sense of style and my need to prioritize cat bliss! Thanks for sharing. (Very nice-looking cats, too, btw!)

Love the rustic look and the catnip plants – what a great idea!

Wow – the timing on this couldn’t be better! In the middle of major back yard renovations including a deck and an herb garden along a fence border. The cats already love smelling and sitting on the herbs and sunning on the deck. I have plenty of scrap left to work with to make them their own space. Thanks for the inspiration Jessie!

I want one for my crew. They would own it in a heartbeat! Thanks Kate and Jessie!

Good idea! I buy wheat grass in containers for my indoor cats every couple of weeks.

I have the perfect place for this in my garden. Kitter is going to love this!
March 10th, 2010 at 7:17 pm
THAT is so adorable! What lucky kitties.

I love the creativit;y of these ideas, using things that we have or can be found at yard sales. it makes it fun to have to find the supplies, then to create the projects, and see our babies enjoy the results. plus the projects are family friendly, so the kids can join in the fun. my first project is going to me the window seats. wish me luck

nice! I always have a “cat garden.”
April 10th, 2010 at 4:32 am
Wow, Jessie’s two cats are indistinguishable from our two cats.
If they see this, I’ll have lost another weekend day building furniture for them.

That’s such a cool idea and looks great! Definitely a good idea for apartment living with the grass and catnip. And I’m glad I’m not the only one that puts my indoor cat on a leash for some fresh air.

Lovely!!

To Jessie, I was wondering about the leash…Then I read your comment # 12 and now I am concerned because if the kitty would leap off the balcony…she could get hurt. Please consider not allowing her to go outside…Perhaps installing a window that would allow her to experience the outdoors without going outside.
