A new set of stamps from Poland celebrates several beautiful cat breeds including one of my favorites, the Maine Coon. These stamps were designed by Andrzej Gosik. Available from the Polish postal service website.

Could anyone translate the cat names? The only one I recognize is Maine Coon. Oh, and Persian.

I have a matryokshka (sp?) nesting doll from former USSR, painted as cats! Similar style of painting.

Top: British Shorthair, Thai and Maine Coon, bottom: Persian, Somali and Exotic. Warm regards from Poland! (btw, in 2007 Polish president was awarded a title of “Cat Person of the Year”, obviously cats are quite influential in Poland…:)

I am not only “officially jealous” I am nationally jealous. I did visit
the Polish postal service website and was pleased to find a “translate”
button. WOW! is an understatment. They really take pride in the art work of their stamps. Of course, the cats are the most exciting.
