There seems to be an issue with the post images not showing in emails. A few people have reported this problem recently. Please leave a comment if you are having the same issue. I found that I have to click the link at the top of the email that says “Display images” then I have to refresh the page and the images show. I’m not sure what is going on, but if I can get some more feedback from readers I may be able to figure out what’s causing it. Sorry about the inconvenience! I’ve actually had the issue in my feed reader — I use Google Reader in Chrome. It’s just been the last day or so, but the photos act as if they’re broken files. Hope that helps!

I’ve been encountering this also just for the past couple of days. I have just been clicking on the title header and following the link to the blog and reading the posts there. The photos were acting as if they were broken files for me too.

been having the trouble getting images in my gmail and in RSS feed. I jsut use the IE feed feature. Often the first couple of image are broken, but the last few will be ok.

I also saw this just now in Google Reader (in epiphany-gecko, which is sort of like firefox, but not). Are you maybe doing referrer checks to try to prevent people from hotlinking your images?

I’ve been having the issues for a couple weeks now. Makes me sad.
I view the emails in both Gmail & Entourage. Doesn’t work in either.

I’ve had a few recently (the past 2 or 3 I think) when reading in gmail. However, I could see both pictures in this update email. :O

I have this problem sometimes; not sure why some pictures work and some don’t. Tends to be more likely when I am using my phone to look at my email, but if I click to go to the actual website, I never have any trouble.

For some reason, on my end the images in the emails are only showing up half the time – today for example, I received both images without any problems. Yesterday, I believe I could see one image and not the other.
It’s only been happening for the last few weeks – before that I had no trouble viewing images, videos or anything else you included in posts.
This is true in both Mac Mail & Gmail.

I have NOT had a problem seeing the images. Each email client has slightly different ways to deal with images. I have google and I either have to individually click the “view images” link or add you as a sender that I always want to see images from. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did you start sending the emails from a different email recently? Because I had to go back and add you again. So that might be part of the problem for some people… I hope this helps. I’m trying to remember if I’ve had any images not show up & overall it’s been fine. If I’m missing anything it’s just one here and there.

Today is the first day I’ve had this problem, I use Gmail, and have it set to automatically display images from your server. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

I HAVE been able to view the images when I click the “display images” link. It works everytime. I’m viewing through Gmail. : )

We have always had this same problem, but we thought the reception just not good in Canada, so never reported the problem. We are able to see everything by clicking on the link to the actual website…but nothing shows on the Moderncat emails.

I’ve had this issue on and off. I’m using gmail, via firefox, via Mac OS X. I’ve opted to “Always Display Images” from Modern Cat, so that isn’t the issue. I have noticed that with certain emails that contain a lot of images, if I scroll around while it’s loading, the images don’t always load. It isn’t always the case, but sometimes – not always – if I refresh and don’t touch anything, then the images load. Hope that helps.

Usually the Display Images does the trick. Alternatively, because of the Java file that is not automatically uploaded in the latest Windows systems, right click on the picture and choose Show Picture – it works most of the time. Worst case scenario – click on the email title and it’ll bring you here, on the Moderncat site where there is no problem viewing the pics.

I’ve been having the issue too. Oddly, not with all images in an email. Often I will be able to see the first image, but not the following ones – although today all images were visible. I view my email in Safari Version 4.0.4 (6531.21.10) at work, and also Safari at home (not sure what version, but an earlier one than at work).

re images not showing in email: I’ve had this problem recently but only with some images in any given email. Usually some or most are fine. I use a Mac OSX 10.6 with Mac Mail email application.
This is only a recent development. Have you switched email senders?

I’ve had this issue, off and on, for a few months. I read the e-mails via gmail. Most of the time, the photos display just fine and I do have “display images” turned on for the moderncat address. Perhaps 1 in every 10 pictures or so does not display, it is a blank space. If I click the link, I can see the photo on the website. Hope that helps.

I’m using Yahoo and 3.5.8 Firefox. I can see some pictures, but not all. This problem has only recently started. Firefox has been wanting to do an update, which I have been pushing off- I wonder if that would fix my problem??

I only experienced the problem of not being able to see the images in my emails (gmail) once this week. I think it was back to normal by the next day, and I had no problem with today’s email.

Can’t see the photos in gmail, and I have it set to “always show” photos from your emails. Today’s email is the first in about a week that I’ve gotten all the images. Like Tabatha said above, they appear as broken files.

YES!!! This was like the 3rd day I’ve received emails and could not see any of the images. I too would click “show images and enable links for this message”, but did not refresh. It’ll show an empty box with a red X in the corner, but no image! I’ll try refreshing it next time. Good Luck and Thanks for asking for our input from all who love the Feline!

Today is the first day the pictures showed up for me. I have been having to click display pictures and then refresh the email for the past couple of weeks or so. I use Gmail, and all my gmail comes to my Mac mail software.

All I have to do when this happens is go open another email and then go back to the modern cat email – - second opening seems to work so it is just an extra click though I understand this must be a pain. Are you using higher rez images than normal?

i saw that “problem” this week too. As i use gmail, i have to allow the mail to see the images, but after that, no images were displayed. this happened just in the las two mails.

I’ve had some images download and others not (even if I try to refresh the image). Been happening for the last couple of days. Also, an older problem is getting images, but coming up a blank when it comes to video content, eg. the Brooklyn paradise post from yesterday.

I’ve been having the same issue others have described — I use Gmail, and usually the first couple images won’t show up, but the last one will. It only started a couple of weeks ago; before that all of the images would show up, every time (I have the “always show images” feature enabled for moderncat address).

I’ve had the same problem, only with certain pictures. Some pictures are shown fine, & then others are blank (white) with a small red X in the upper left. I thought it had to do with my computer, so I’m kinda glad it’s not just me.
