If you want to be really green this Earth Day, you could try toilet training your cat and kicking the litter habit altogether! I still have yet to try this, but I’ve read so many testimonials saying that it’s the best thing ever, I have to see if it works.
One of the best resources out there for helping you teach your cats how to use the toilet is Kick Litter, the entertaining little guidebook from Moxie and Cooper who both kicked litter themselves. The book comes with a free poster outlining the easy-to-follow “nine step intervention program” for toilet training your cat.
. . .
Note: Toilet training cats can be controversial because some research has shown that there may be a link between a parasite sometimes found in cat feces and harm being caused to sea otters on the West coast of the US. However, further research shows that if you are able to verify that your cat does not have the parasite, that flushing cat feces is not a problem. For more info, please read this post.

April 22nd, 2010 at 10:42 am
My best friend just decided to train her cats! Personally I am A-ok with my corn-based litter and litter robot, but she would lovvvve this!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:42 am
1 finicky Russian Blue + 3 one year old rescue cuties = 4 litter boxes in 1 tiny NY apartment. Need I say more? But good grief- I love them all!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:43 am
Wow! If I could train at least one of my three cats it would be a big help in kicking litter!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:43 am

April 22nd, 2010 at 10:43 am

April 22nd, 2010 at 10:45 am
I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:45 am
would love to train my 3 stinkies to do this. wonder if it’s advisable for a CRF cat to be trained?
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:47 am
Very intrigued…
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:47 am
Lovely!! My fiancee and I want to take advantage of Manu & Lola’s obsession with the toilet and see if they’ll switch over to this system.
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:48 am
I have five cats, all rescues. You can imagine how much litter I go through. If all five could be toilet trained, there’d be a line out the bathroom door, and I’d have to queue up like the rest of ‘em! I wonder if I could teach them to spit up hairballs into the toilet too? Life would be so much easier then.
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:48 am
would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to ditch the litter box!!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:49 am
This would make my favorite pet, the PURRFECT PET!!!!

April 22nd, 2010 at 10:54 am
this would be awesome!!!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:55 am
It would be fantastic to be able to say that our two cats “kicked litter” – hope I win one.
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:57 am
This would be soooooo awesome!!!! I’ve actually seen a cat use the toilet and thought, “Mann I would love for my two cats to be trained to do this!!” My daughter has severe allergies and every time I go to change the litter, we have to air out the house and she’d have to leave and come back later…totally a problem. I love my cats and my daughter soo much that I put up with this inconvience…However, this could all change if I winnnnnnnn! heehee

I would love to have this training book! I tried to kick litter and toilet train my cats before but had little clue as to what I was doing and eventually gave up. Perhaps another shot is in order!

April 22nd, 2010 at 11:01 am
Oh snap, I’d love to win! I’ve been kicking this idea around for almost a year. This is just the shove I need to do it.

April 22nd, 2010 at 11:02 am

April 22nd, 2010 at 11:03 am
With three cats, we would save a lot of litter if they could learn to kick it!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:04 am
This would be so terrific! Cleaner, time-saving and lots less stinky! I would love to try this!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:05 am
This would be great…I’ve always wanted to try one of these toilet training systems for my cats.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:06 am
i would love to try this and stop wasting time vacuuming up litter every day!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:08 am
I’d rather flush than scoop.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:09 am
This would be awesome, and save on bending down to clean smellies.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:10 am
This would be a dream come true to win this! I have 5 cats which need 5 litter boxes! Imagine the time saved!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:10 am
I never thought that it was possible to train a cat to use the potty. But I’m all over this book. Its safer, cleaner, greener and lets talk about the savings.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:11 am
I can’t wait to get a copy, I want to start training immediately!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:13 am
I would love to kick the litter habit. I get so tired of accidentally walking on the little pieces that Saru-chan scatters all over the bathroom.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:16 am
With 12 cats and one toilet, I’m not sure how that would work but I’m willing to give it a try!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:16 am
This is almost inspirational!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:18 am
i literally just scooped and flushed some WBL from my cat’s box. this would be a cool gift!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:20 am
I’ve tried many times! I’d love it if my cats used the john.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:23 am
I’ve tried to toilet train my cats before, but didn’t get very far. I hope this book will be a better guide than the last one I tried!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:23 am
I have always wanted to try this. I have one cat very interested in the toilet – seems as if she is wondering what I am doing. I’m just not sure about the time commitment – plus I’m gone at work during the day..I’ll check into it.
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:25 am
With 2 one-year-olds that prefer to use the tub or sink instead of their box, I think training them to use the toilet would be a fabulous idea!
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:25 am
Sign me up ! I too would love to kick litter, never mind the mess, it’s the cost !
