Just found this new line of gorgeous cardboard cat scratchers from German company Cat-on. There are so many different shapes and graphics to choose from, the selection is almost endless! From what I could get translated on the website, it looks like the company offers custom graphics, and, as you would expect from a German company, the production is extremely eco-friendly.

It looks like prices start at €17.50 and go up to €299.95, which includes free shipping within Germany, but I can’t find costs for shipping to the US. Thanks to Mei for the find.

I still can’t believe how expensive card board scratchers are. Their cost is pennies on the dollar if that. They are cute but in this economy I wouldn’t pay that kind of money even if I could afford it. Sorry

Well, I wrote them from their website to ask about the shipping here in US. I also posted the question on their Facebook place. Lets see what their answer will be… although I’m pretty sure we won’t get one at least until Monday, it’s already late Friday there now.

this is really cool and practical. can see my cat rolling around in the circular one, haha.
May 7th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Those are so cool! I love all the options they have. The ‘S’ shaped scratcher is really interesting!

Thanks Nina for sharing the information with us. I am in love with these designs however it is expensive by itself and then add on the shipping and handling cost can make this an outrageous buy.
I would definitely like to get one considering my Daisy and Dora rest on anything from my laptop to my desk. I would love to be able to get them something they can call their resting spot. Apparently this is out of my reach.

I love these scratchers. They look like pieces of art.

The good news: the euro-dollar exchange rate is lowest it’s been in a long time.
The bad news: that S&H alone will still set you back at least $51 at today’s exchange. And that’s on top of the price of the scratcher ($22-$383). I can convince myself that the items’ prices are within the range of fair. However, the extra $50 bugs.
It might be worth it to send an emissary/mule
Or create a giant bulk order of moderncat.netsters.

Attractive, even artsy…but pricy. But we pay a higher price to be ‘green’. I wonder about the durablity? My Jaz is rough.

These are really cool, and modern.

I love that people are willing to pay for “pretty cardboard” that their cats will rip to shreds.
May 8th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
LOVE those! They would fit right in with the other products at the Cat Connection in Dallas, too, until they came to my house.
