You may or may not know about my other blog CatioShowcase.com. I started Catio Showcase when I was researching catio design so I could build one at my condo. You’ve probably seen glimpses of my catio in other posts, but I figured it was time to showoff the whole thing, because today I was quoted in an article in the New York Times about the hot topic of catio design!
If you’re not familiar with the term “catio,” it describes an enclosed outdoor space designed specifically for cats. I was able to create a catio relatively easily by extending the roof and connecting the existing block walls to it. I added all sorts of features like climbing shelves, a concealed litter area, and a sisal wrapped pole that goes all the way to the ceiling. The cats absolutely love it and so do I! Nikita Cat’s got the right idea, I see — as for us, we LOVE your Catio and wish we could do this as well (not sure about it here; we’d have to pull a permit, and don’t have a Mike. Would you want to loan him out to us? lol) We sure miss our Catio and our Stables Compound and very much enjoy the vicarious pleasure of viewing others’ feline Paradises –thanks for sharing!
