Wow! I can’t believe how many entries we received for the Big Kitty Photo Contest and Scratch’n Slumber giveaway! There were so many that I decided to have a preliminary round of voting so you can choose the finalists from all the entries received.
This will be a hard decision because every photo is great. I exclaimed out loud as I opened each one! Thank you to everyone who submitted photos. Your big kitties are all gorgeous!

Here’s how the voting will work. You will get to review all 200+ photos, then vote for your TOP FIVE favorites. The five photos with the most votes will advance to the finals. I will post the finalists along with their descriptions of why their cats need a Scratch’n Slumber Comfort Lounge and there will be one more final vote. Final voting will take place Aug 25 & 26 and the winner will be announced on Aug 27.
To see all the entries, click the link below to open the complete gallery page, then follow the instructions for voting.

Benny #46 very much appreciates the person who voted for him who was not his mommy!
It’s really great seeing so many fabulous kitty pictures in one spot.
Also: Chaos Orange Bob is one of the greatest cat names I have ever heard.

These cats are indeed beautiful but it appears many of these cats are at unhealthy weights. As catlovers likely know, some breeds are naturally big. As long as your vet says their weight is ok great!
As responsible pet owners, it’s up to us to make sure our cats lives are as long and healthy as possible. I have a friend whose cat died early from a disease brought on my obesity. It was heartbreaking and horrible to witness.
Make a commitment to do what is right for your cat and work with your vet to help them slim down to a proper weight. They will thank you for it with more years of love and affection. They are counting on us

Kate, this is one the most difficult things I’ve ever done, narrowing it to just FIVE (and not voting for my big boy, Sammi, ’cause I thought it wouldn’t be fair — thank you to the voter who chose him!). EVERY ONE is adorable! catsrthebest is so correct, though; and I also have a dear friend who lost his dear cat to obesity-caused early passage. Hope everyone will read up on health and weight and help their beloved cats to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I totally agree with comment 3 (catsarethebest) A couple of these cats are highly overweight and it is heartbreaking to see. An obese pet is not ‘cute’, owners should take responsibility for their cats health, maybe it looks fun now, but its the cat that suffers later.

So sad….poor cats:( This is just as serious as if the cats were underweight. I dont belive this.

I love fat cats. And mine are so happy. If he could talk and I asked him, “Moses, would you rather be fat and have a shorter life, or fit and live longer?” I know what his answer would be. He is a live-in-the-moment creature.
