I have been meaning to post these since I saw them at the Global Pet Expo earlier this year. Most pet drinking fountains are made of plastic, which can be difficult to keep clean, causing feline acne to develop in some cats. Remember my post about poor Mackenzie with his feline acne? I had to get rid of all plastic bowls and drinking fountains and switch to stainless steel and ceramic, which are both much easier to keep clean.

Look carefully at the picture – the pump and pump housing are still plastic. The lip is probably made of rubber and WILL gather fungal/bacterial growth even when cleaned regularly. This is better than an all-plastic water dish, sure, but it’s still not the perfect solution.
