What an awesome idea! I wish I’d had something like that when we had the larger dog. We’d kept the cat food on the top of a stand, but it just led to having the old dog hurt her back trying to climb up there.

I saw this years ago and then made a better, cheaper, simpler version for myself by simply buying an unfinished boot bench and cutting a hole in the side. There’s plenty of room to store bowls and bags of food under the lid, the cats eat in peace, and the dog can’t even fit her head in the cat-sized hole. I painted it with silver spray paint that creates the effect of galvanized steel, so it’s even cooler.

Wow! This is a great idea. I have tried everything I could think of to keep my canine pet, Shy from eating the kitties’ food (She waits until I am not looking or is away from home and eats their food.
Are you giving one of these away?

Nice idea! (I’ve got a better idea but I can’t print it on a nice blog — suffice to say I would never have a dog!)

My dogs would never have dared try to steal food from my cats. They knew they would have been putting their lives on the line

I wonder if this would work to keep a pudgy cat out of the skinny cat’s food…

I don’t think this has enough room for the cat to eat comfortably, and it’s waaay too expensive too. Dare I say, any big dog would just tip that thing over to get inside when no one is around! Better to just close the room off to the door, OR stay in the room until the cat’s are finished eating.

Nice idea, but I agree that it probably wouldn’t stop a dog (and it’s expensive).
I just use the taxis on a microwave cart. Cats go in and eat, dogs can’t get to them, cats are let out when they’re done.
Nobody ever makes things that work well with raw feeding, either. I think, with the way mine drag stuff around, this would get slopped up on day one.
But, it’s a cute idea for someone with one cat that eats kibble and maybe owns a small dog.

I know this will be a popular item!! My cats love to open door and cabinets. They need a new challenge.
