I’m absolutely fascinated by cardboard design and these new toys are one of the coolest designs I’ve seen. The Amazing Treat Machine Rollers are little cardboard toys that you put together from pre-punched cardboard. Each one holds a catnip packet (comes with the toys) and has a compartment for placing treats. When the toys roll across the floor, the treats fall out, enticing kitty to keep playing (at least until all the treats are gone).

The rollers come in a set of four in a cool little box that would make a great gift for any cat lover. You punch out the pieces and assemble the rollers. The design is truly brilliant and the instructions are pretty easy to follow. There’s even a video showing you how to assemble the rollers.

They sent us some rollers to test out and the cats like them as much as I do. Ando and Theo were the first to give them a sniff:

Then I made this little video. As you can see, Ando is the worst treat thief ever! I didn’t realize just how bad he is until I saw all the clips of him stealing treats. He’s terrible! And, yes, he did throw up promptly after making the video. Too many treats. (If you can’t see the video below in your email, click here to watch it on the site.)
The Amazing Treat Machine Rollers are $9.95 for a set of four and can be purchased online at AmazingTreatMachine.com or at Amazon.

Those are WAY COOL! I enjoyed the music on the video but I missed hearing what the cats had to say about the rollers. And, yikes, Ando did make a pig of himself!!

These are so cool — easy to flick aound with a claw, fun to play with, and enough so that we can have one for each of my 3 cats. An amusing way to exercise.

These would be great enrichment tools for the animal shelters we consult for. I’d love to try them out with our local shelter cats. In addition to serving treats and catnip they are made of cardboard, which cats are very attracted to. The disposible materials are perfect for one toy/cat to support infection control in shelters. The price point is a little high for routine use in shelters, but maybe they could be mass produced and subsidized like the Hide-Perch & Go boxes.

What a clever idea. It would certainly keep my cat occupied while I was at work, but also limit the number of treats.

These are great! It might even get my big boy moving — he’s not too interested in exercise and toys, but he sure loves his treats!

Fatty Keek needs to work for his treats but I think Mario might eat the rollers!! He loves cardboard. I need to see if these would survive him!!

Both our cats would love it for the catnip alone–but strangely one of my cats doesn’t like treats! But the other one does, and he’ll love this.

Christmas shopping SOLVED for many feline-loving friends and the office holiday gift exchange. (I count many cat people among my co-workers.) Tigger and Bootsie will, of course, add these to their Santa Wish List. Now if only there were a version for humans that provided excercise and people-treat incentives in one easy package…
October 27th, 2010 at 9:41 am
How cute! My kitties would love this!
October 27th, 2010 at 9:41 am

October 27th, 2010 at 9:42 am
OMG, these are the greatest thing out there for cats to roll and play with.. my guy loves cardboard and will certainly play for a very long time with these wonderful toys.. I am hoping to win these and share with other cat friends.
Great Idea!
October 27th, 2010 at 9:43 am

October 27th, 2010 at 9:43 am
My Ms. P would love those!
October 27th, 2010 at 9:43 am
These are so practical-recycled and since my cats destroy their toys pretty quickly this would be an inexpensive alternative to the pricey toys. They also love cardboard boxes so I know they would like these.
October 27th, 2010 at 9:43 am
This would be great for my guys – exercise and they get to eat!
October 27th, 2010 at 9:44 am
My cats would definitely like these – although Daphne would chew the cardboard!
October 27th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Ando is just too smart!
Love the video, and love the fact that this toy can be recycled. What a great invention.
October 27th, 2010 at 9:44 am
What a neat and very affordable idea. Love the fact that I can recycle them once they’re past the living stage. Thanks for the find.
October 27th, 2010 at 9:45 am
All 4 of my cats would love these, most especially Dinky, who likes to relax by perforating corrugated boxes with his teeth.
October 27th, 2010 at 9:45 am
Oh, we have four cats and I can just see them going crazy with these! Might even get our 12 year old some exercise she sorely needs. Our youngest two (8 and 5 years old) are such catnip and treat addicts – and these would give me a break from their constant begging! Love them.
