Do you have a scaredy cat at home? One who’s afraid of the vacuum and the mailman? I do, and the thought of getting him groomed is very unpleasant. The clippers used by groomers vibrate, making a noise that is frightening to nervous pets. And using regular scissors is not an option. Did you know that it is very dangerous to use regular scissors on a cat’s fur because their skin is so delicate that when you lift the fur it’s almost impossible not to clip the skin, which could be disastrous.
Well, Scaredy Cut is a new invention that provides a simple solution. This grooming set uses scissors with a clip-on blade to protect delicate skin when trimming kitty’s fur. They sent me a set to try, and I tested it on Mackenzie, my big chicken-butt, and I was thrilled at how well it works! Sometimes Mackenzie needs a little assistance grooming his wooly britches and I was able to use the Scaredy Cut to help him out — without freaking him out. The Scaredy Cut is Mackenzie approved!

The set comes with one pair of scissors with a special comb holder and six plastic clip-on combs ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. These are the same combs used with electric clippers and are designed to glide smoothly through fur while resting on the skin and keeping the blade at a safe distance. It’s easy to see the pink comb in any color fur.

In addition to eliminating the vibration and sound of electric clippers, the Scaredy Cut prevents uncomfortable hair pulling. Even with regular clippers the fur is pulled from one side. With Scaredy Cut, the scissor blades come together from both sides, eliminating pulling.

The Scaredy Cut set comes packaged in a little box with instructions, perfect for holiday gift giving. The set is available from Amazon for $25 with free shipping. Get more information and watch the demo video at www.ScaredyCut.com.

These look awesome. I have a Somali kitten who seems to have chronic issues keeping “stuff” out of his britches and had to take him to a groomer get him a sanitary cut last time because I was too afraid to go at him with scissors and he wouldn’t have anything to do with clippers. He might actually tolerate this though. What a great idea!

I NEED THIS!! I have 3 long haired cats and i was just thinking how i should get them groomed, but i didn’t want to traumatize them with the buzzers that groomers use! they can use some trimming and these would be the PERFECT solution! =D

Wow, I sure could have used this on my old cat who made it until 21 but wasn’t grooming himself any more! Had such a hard time dealing with tangles in his short, but thick hair on his frail, thin skin. My current cats aren’t so much scared as they are wiggle-worms! Anything that would protect them against slipping scissors would be helpful.

I could totally use one of those!
November 24th, 2010 at 8:31 am
Not only my cats, but I have a feline client that I watch that would adore this. He doesn’t put up with grooming well, but this might just be the answer!

My parents could definitely use this! They have a long haired cat that is so scared of everything it takes him five minutes to enter a room because the rug, the people, the TV, the other cats… All make him jump. And forget about having him in a room with a ceiling fan on–not going to happen!

Fantastic idea and I do need something like that for my Coonie mix, the long fur at the bottom end gets messy with sticky litter and… well I won’t put you off your lunch
I took him ONCE to the groomers and you could hear him howling all the way through in the next county, so that was it really! I try to do it with regular scissors but I’m so terrified to hurt him I only cut like 1/20 of an inch, which doesn’t help much…

With a long haired dog and 3 long haired cats this would sure come in handy. Right now I’m using fingernail scissors to get matted hair and from between the toes.

Wow…Tessie could really use this. She’s not a longhair, but she has thick short hair and she isn’t as careful about her after-toilet care as she could be.
This could really help!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:12 am

November 24th, 2010 at 9:13 am
OMGosh….my Cosmo is inundated with mats. He absolutly hates being groomed. I have resorted to using a seam ripper to cut out one mat at a time. I could sooooo use this!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:13 am
Wow. I need this for Franny my maine coon – last time i tried to get her groomed she tried to attack the poor groomer (who even tried to muzzle her in an attempt to “calm her down”. Of course that just made her angrier!) Last night’s walkabout the house with poo on her furry butt was not the highlight of my evening so this would be a welcome addition.

These are PAWESOME!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:14 am
Brilliant idea! We also have a boy with wooly pantaloons who requires fairly regular trimming. I am always paranoid he might get cut, despite our precautions.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:14 am
How wonderful! I have a kitty who can use some serious assistance grooming her wooly britches — but she begs to differ. I may stand a chance grooming my Annabelle with this product.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:14 am

November 24th, 2010 at 9:14 am
