Do you have a scaredy cat at home? One who’s afraid of the vacuum and the mailman? I do, and the thought of getting him groomed is very unpleasant. The clippers used by groomers vibrate, making a noise that is frightening to nervous pets. And using regular scissors is not an option. Did you know that it is very dangerous to use regular scissors on a cat’s fur because their skin is so delicate that when you lift the fur it’s almost impossible not to clip the skin, which could be disastrous.
Well, Scaredy Cut is a new invention that provides a simple solution. This grooming set uses scissors with a clip-on blade to protect delicate skin when trimming kitty’s fur. They sent me a set to try, and I tested it on Mackenzie, my big chicken-butt, and I was thrilled at how well it works! Sometimes Mackenzie needs a little assistance grooming his wooly britches and I was able to use the Scaredy Cut to help him out — without freaking him out. The Scaredy Cut is Mackenzie approved!

The set comes with one pair of scissors with a special comb holder and six plastic clip-on combs ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. These are the same combs used with electric clippers and are designed to glide smoothly through fur while resting on the skin and keeping the blade at a safe distance. It’s easy to see the pink comb in any color fur.

In addition to eliminating the vibration and sound of electric clippers, the Scaredy Cut prevents uncomfortable hair pulling. Even with regular clippers the fur is pulled from one side. With Scaredy Cut, the scissor blades come together from both sides, eliminating pulling.

The Scaredy Cut set comes packaged in a little box with instructions, perfect for holiday gift giving. The set is available from Amazon for $25 with free shipping. Get more information and watch the demo video at www.ScaredyCut.com.

A great idea!

Ooh! Our long-haired cat would definitely prefer this to our hack jobs when she’s gotten into a mess.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:35 am
Scaaredy Cee Cee would LOVE this!!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:35 am
Perfect for the “wooly britches” of my DMH. I’d also be loaning them to my mom to for her Persian mixes.

My fluffy-pants scaredy-cat is in dire need of this! The trim we attempted this summer was disastrous!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:36 am
Would love these!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:36 am
So excited to see this product! I have 6 cats and two of them are always getting matted hair on their backs. Have always used a comb between the skin/hair and scissors but this porduct is designed better.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:36 am
This is an amazing product. I work a lot with rescue cats and kittens and encounter many cats that need a trim here and there. This would come in very handy.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:37 am
This would be a blessing in our house. Looking forward to winning.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:38 am
Wow- that is awesome. That would help us with a lot of our cats.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:39 am
I need to give these to my mom. She’s trimmed her outside long-haired cats fur 2 years running now in the spring and we all laugh hysterically because he looks very punk rockish after she’s done. Takes his coat all summer to grow back in and look normal. These might give Blue a little dignity back. ^_^

Such a good idea! I have a new kitten with long fur which is super pretty but causing all sorts of problems which these will solve!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:41 am
Ahhhh this is such a good idea, and perfect for my girls. The two of them have issues with fur on their bottoms, and don’t like me cutting there at all, for obvious reasons.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:41 am
What an awesome idea!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:43 am
Sounds perfect! Our Skitz has one heckuva undercoat, loves to be brushed, but bring out the scissors and he’s outta here. Five more kitties could also benefit here!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:43 am
My hairy, scaredy cats definitely needs this and my life would be less stressful, too.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Really nice idea, and super functional.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:44 am
What a great idea! I added one to my Amazon wishlist, and if I don’t win, I’m going to buy them anyway!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:44 am
I would love this for my girls.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:44 am
wow so helpful for my scaredy cat!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:45 am
My cat, Little Guy, is a 20 year old Maine Coon cat that won’t let us groom him at all–so he basically has dreadlocks. Every other month we take him to the Vet, who uses clippers to get him comfortable again.
Scaredy Cut might be a product that we can use to make him more comfortable in his old age.
I’m sure those knots pull when he walks.
God, I would love to try the product.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:45 am
Brilliant invention!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:47 am
This looks really interesting. I have some cats that get mats and one in particular is hard to groom the mats out. This looks a lot easier on her, and I don’t have to worry about cutting her skin.
This would also be great for cat shelters to help clean up matty cats.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:47 am
Super cool
November 24th, 2010 at 9:48 am
Excellent idea! My cats hate the electric clippers.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:49 am
Would love to try this set, love the color too, very nice!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:50 am
Wonderful idea! I know my ex-feral wouldn’t tolerate going to the groomers for sure!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:50 am
A perfect invention!!!
Like they say about “MODERN ART = I COULD DO THAT + YEAH, BUT YOU DIDN’T”
I want one!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:50 am
Amazing idea!! This would make my life so much easier.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:51 am
What a great set! Our long-haired cat is afraid of noises, so this would be perfect for him!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:51 am
WOW! What a super neat idea! I try to cut my cats fur all the time! He has so much and it gets pretty hot here, not to mention how many times in one vacuum round I have to empty it out! It’s all fur! This would be a very helpful tool so my cat doesn’t look like he got butchered at the hair salon!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:52 am
This would be perfect for my kitty!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:52 am
Oh my goodness! What a godsend! My long haired girl Stella often has difficulty keeping herself…ummmm as fresh and clean as she (and I!) would like. Using a mat breaker is not a good option and always freaks her out. It doesn’t make me very happy either to see her fur pulled like that. This looks just wonderful!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:52 am
I love this idea.
Thanks
November 24th, 2010 at 9:53 am
I would sure be interested in trying out this one since I have experienced trouble clipping matted hair
November 24th, 2010 at 9:53 am
My handsome gentleman has lovely grey trousers, however, they are dangerous: they drop after-box torpedos if not trimmed sufficiently. This set would certainly come in handy, since – naturally – he doesn’t want his nether-regions disturbed.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:53 am
This will be good for my cats as they are terrified of loud noises. I’m sure it’s common problem for cat owners so this is a fantastic product.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:53 am
This would be perfect for Sam! It is impossible to see her skin through her mass of fur. Thanks for the offer!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:54 am
I need this for Bambi (aka Rambo). She mats and won’t let me brush her so I have to cut out the mats.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:54 am
Hey, I have a chicken-butt myself! His name is Gizmo
November 24th, 2010 at 9:57 am
My cats had a terrible experience after being groomed for the first time – see http://catadvisor.blogspot.com/2010/08/friendship-gone-sour.html – until now, they are still having to be kept separate within the house because of fear and aggression issues between them (it’s been over 3 months)! Things are slowly improving and I’m optimistic and hopeful that they’ll be buddies again but it would be so wonderful to have a product like this to use so we don’t have to take them to the groomer again!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:57 am
Brilliant! Genius!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:58 am
I foster cats from a rescue, this would be great for the fluffy ones that come in full of knots and clumps.
November 24th, 2010 at 9:58 am
We have two long hair kitties that mat badly. Both are afraid of clipper noise. The Scaredy Cut appears to be the ideal solution to keeping Mason and Hattie Lopez comfortable. I hope we win, but plan to buy it if we don’t!
November 24th, 2010 at 9:58 am
Nice giveaway! I’d love this.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:00 am
My cat doesn’t really need this, but I have a friend with a half Maine Coon cat who could really benefit from a butt trim. I would give this to her!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:00 am
what a great idea – my maine coon hates being trimmed, so this would be a wonder for he and I!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:00 am
This is great! A big help on arthritic cats!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:00 am
This is such a great invention and one I could definitely use. And I won’t have to change my cat’s name to Matt.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:01 am
My scaredy cat will not let anything near her fur, but yet she is beginning to get a mat near her back. This would be so helpful in combing/cutting this out, without causing her too much trauma!
