Do you have a scaredy cat at home? One who’s afraid of the vacuum and the mailman? I do, and the thought of getting him groomed is very unpleasant. The clippers used by groomers vibrate, making a noise that is frightening to nervous pets. And using regular scissors is not an option. Did you know that it is very dangerous to use regular scissors on a cat’s fur because their skin is so delicate that when you lift the fur it’s almost impossible not to clip the skin, which could be disastrous.
Well, Scaredy Cut is a new invention that provides a simple solution. This grooming set uses scissors with a clip-on blade to protect delicate skin when trimming kitty’s fur. They sent me a set to try, and I tested it on Mackenzie, my big chicken-butt, and I was thrilled at how well it works! Sometimes Mackenzie needs a little assistance grooming his wooly britches and I was able to use the Scaredy Cut to help him out — without freaking him out. The Scaredy Cut is Mackenzie approved!

The set comes with one pair of scissors with a special comb holder and six plastic clip-on combs ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. These are the same combs used with electric clippers and are designed to glide smoothly through fur while resting on the skin and keeping the blade at a safe distance. It’s easy to see the pink comb in any color fur.

In addition to eliminating the vibration and sound of electric clippers, the Scaredy Cut prevents uncomfortable hair pulling. Even with regular clippers the fur is pulled from one side. With Scaredy Cut, the scissor blades come together from both sides, eliminating pulling.

The Scaredy Cut set comes packaged in a little box with instructions, perfect for holiday gift giving. The set is available from Amazon for $25 with free shipping. Get more information and watch the demo video at www.ScaredyCut.com.

Fun! We want to win!

OMG! This is exactly what I need. I’ve got a chubby girl with very long fur. Not pleasant when it comes to certain litterbox activities….. She’s also scared of the kind of noise that clippers make, she’s even nervous of the bathroom fan and the fan over the stove.

Practical thing. Would be nice to try this
November 24th, 2010 at 10:05 am
OMG, I need this so bad! I have a cat who is nothing but mats right now and she won’t let me brush her hair out! I know its gotta be painful. I would use the clippers but it is November in Ohio! I can’t let her be bald in the winter! I would absolutely love to try out this product.

This could really help me thin out Lillian’s funky fur. Finally a tool that can help me groom Lillian so she doesn’t look like a freak with her Trichotillomania caused thinning spots.

We could use this for Max Ella & Oggie!!!! We love this moderncat web site:-)
November 24th, 2010 at 10:10 am
What a good idea! My two fluffballs ( one a Maine Coon) could really use these. If I don’t win, I will order some.

My Shackleford is a Maine-coon look-alike who has a very hairy rear end–the Scaredy-cut would help tremendously in grooming. He loves brushing, so I am sure he would love this as well. We would be delighted to try it out!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:15 am
This looks like it would be perfect for my Maine Coon boy named Hammie!! What a cool product!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:16 am
So excited to see this product. My two siberians have pretty impressive fuzzypants that regularly result in messes. I’m always terrified to trim them because they are so fluffy that I don’t know where the fluff ends and the cat begins. Now I can trim down their fuzzypants without fear of hurting them. Everyone involved is relieved.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:16 am
I love it!!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:17 am

This would be great for my Maine Coon, who hates to be groomed but really needs it.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:23 am
Oh my gosh! This is a perfect invention!! As an owner of two long haired cats, this is a much needed solution. As always, thanks for letting us know abut such a great product!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:24 am
This is a product that I would really like to give it a try. Mia is a beautiful Siberian cat and tends to matt and it’s really hard to keep up with the grooming.I use regular scissors and I was unaware that those were bad!!! I don’t think I ever had an accident with them, but now I’m worried! I’m hesitant to take her to a groomer cause I think she would be absolutely traumatized. Maybe this product would be a good alternative. I WANT IT! Please…

Excellent! If I won in time I’d donate it to the Purrs in our Hearts auction that’s currently running to raise funds for an independent UK rescue.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:24 am
I’d love this
November 24th, 2010 at 10:25 am
Cool thats an awesome idea
November 24th, 2010 at 10:25 am
oh how my celeste and i need these! i always use a comb between the scissors and her skin but that makes it a two person process. this would mean the two of us wouldn’t have to find a spa assistant in order to take care of her backside!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:27 am
I’ve clipped my long-haired cat’s hair over the years with electric clippers. He’s actually pretty good about it. However, the clippers get dull after just a few uses and I had to buy new ones. This would be a great alternative to try!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:28 am
This would be great for my two girl kitties, Presley & Paris!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:28 am
This is SUCH a neat idea! Why didn’t I think of it, lol!?! My fuzzbutt would definetly benefit from it.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:29 am
What a great SAFE way to groom my furry little baby.. Way to go with that design!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:29 am
OMGosh I would love to have one of these!! I am so tired of fighting with my long haired cat to trim the mats out of his mane. It is quite the battle sometimes
November 24th, 2010 at 10:30 am
Scaredy Cut would be a blessing for my scaredy cats who are terrified of brushs and combs.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:30 am
this is so cool and would really come in handy for my scaredy cat!!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:31 am
I learned the hard way about ordinary scissors, and I’m overwhelmingly thankful that my floofy ex-feral girl forgave me anyway. I could really use these to trim her britches and ruff.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:32 am
I surely have a scaredy cat and even though he is a ragdoll, at 13, he
has mats and won’t let me work them! This would definitely be helpful.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:32 am
too cool!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:33 am
Kate, I love this – it would have been perfect for my Rags when he was older – http://www.floppycats.com/rags.html – because he got mats under his arms a lot and I was always scared to pull or cut them out because their skin is so thin!
Charlie gets them now because his coat is so plush and he only has one little tongue to cover his vulumcious body. He hates combs pulling on his hair, so this would be great – especially because it’s pink! Charlie’s fur is mostly brown, so the pink will help.
I love this idea – brillant, brillant, brillant – love the name too because I am always scared to cut!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:33 am
My 7 cats periodically ”get into’ something that requires a quick-snip-out of the affected fur. This is a simple, smart , safe solution AND…I was at the hair salon over the weekend and watched countless human heads shorn right down to the scalp…safely…using a similar dual-tool technique….a pick adn a cutting implement ( scissors or clippers). using this same idea for the pets is perfect and i should have thought of it myself! Good job!
November 24th, 2010 at 10:36 am
what a brilliant idea! Does it exist in orange to match my ginger cat?
November 24th, 2010 at 10:36 am
Definitely be worth a try on Sarabi, my mom’s long hair.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:38 am
FABULOUS!!! Great idea!!! Need one of those for my 3 kitty cats.

Hair cut… hairless… HAIRSPRAY!!!… love it
November 24th, 2010 at 10:40 am
My long-haired scaredy cat Gumbo needs this! I brush him but he still gets mats that I end up trying to remove with manicure scissors and he hates it.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:42 am
Oh those are great!! It would make snipping so much easier when my cat needs cleaning up…
November 24th, 2010 at 10:44 am
This makes trimming so much safer; I’m always very careful when I take regular scissors to my guy, but it makes me nervous. He could definitely benefit from these.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:46 am
I would really love this product for my cat.
November 24th, 2010 at 10:49 am
A nice solution to a problem that many cat owners encounter. My little lads are never happy when they see the electric grooming clippers appear.
