Do you have a scaredy cat at home? One who’s afraid of the vacuum and the mailman? I do, and the thought of getting him groomed is very unpleasant. The clippers used by groomers vibrate, making a noise that is frightening to nervous pets. And using regular scissors is not an option. Did you know that it is very dangerous to use regular scissors on a cat’s fur because their skin is so delicate that when you lift the fur it’s almost impossible not to clip the skin, which could be disastrous.
Well, Scaredy Cut is a new invention that provides a simple solution. This grooming set uses scissors with a clip-on blade to protect delicate skin when trimming kitty’s fur. They sent me a set to try, and I tested it on Mackenzie, my big chicken-butt, and I was thrilled at how well it works! Sometimes Mackenzie needs a little assistance grooming his wooly britches and I was able to use the Scaredy Cut to help him out — without freaking him out. The Scaredy Cut is Mackenzie approved!

The set comes with one pair of scissors with a special comb holder and six plastic clip-on combs ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. These are the same combs used with electric clippers and are designed to glide smoothly through fur while resting on the skin and keeping the blade at a safe distance. It’s easy to see the pink comb in any color fur.

In addition to eliminating the vibration and sound of electric clippers, the Scaredy Cut prevents uncomfortable hair pulling. Even with regular clippers the fur is pulled from one side. With Scaredy Cut, the scissor blades come together from both sides, eliminating pulling.

The Scaredy Cut set comes packaged in a little box with instructions, perfect for holiday gift giving. The set is available from Amazon for $25 with free shipping. Get more information and watch the demo video at www.ScaredyCut.com.

I really need this. I have one kitty that is…well….chubby is a nice word. She has a hard time cleaning her poor rear end. This would make it less painful for both of us!!!!

November 24th, 2010 at 2:25 pm

November 24th, 2010 at 2:46 pm
What an ingenious invention! Keeping my fingers crossed!!
November 24th, 2010 at 2:46 pm
This is so great. I would share it with my sister who once cut a mat out of her cat and cut a whole in her skin
Poor thing needed stitches! Now I am so leery of cutting out mats!
November 24th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
This would be great! It’d be better than taking my ragdolls to the groomers. they’d be a lot less stressed.
November 24th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
Finally a safe way to groom cats, whether they are scaredy-cats or calm. There is a clinic cat at my vet’s office who is very aggressive when they try to get the matts out of her fur so they avoid it until it is very bad. This may be just the thing for that kitty.

Ditto comment #231 — I have a 20 1/2 year old DLH that this would be PERFECT for. I have at least TWICE cut her poor skin trying to remove a mat, and now that she’s a geriatricat, she’s not as good at grooming herself as she used to be. This would be perfect for her and for my other two long hairs. Did I mention that I have THREE DLH’s? Wonderful idea!!!

November 24th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
This is genius…..
November 24th, 2010 at 3:06 pm
My tub of fur who hates everyone but my husband and me would love this. Less outings makes for a MUCH happier kitty!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
Spot, my diva kittyboy, would never admit to being less than perfectly groomed, but the fact is that sometimes he needs a little help. These look like they would work really well for him.
November 24th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
These look great! My great wooly bear of a cat is also the biggest fraidy cat of the bunch. These might actually let me get clip out some of his tangles without scaring him to death!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Wow! With all the stray and abandoned matted kitties we get into our shelter, this would be a Godsend for us!!!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
Cool! I’ve never seen anything like this before.
November 24th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
This looks like a perfect groomer for my three scaredy cats!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:15 pm
This would be perfect for my scardy cat, Monkee!! He is getting better, but any loud noise startles him…he can jump REALLY high!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
Does this come with a person to help me hold my scaredy cat down?
November 24th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
OH I have a scaredy cat.. Mickey.. as soon as he hears something close to shavers or scissors he is hiding.
November 24th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Amber is part Maine Coon and gets mats very easily. This would be a great help in grooming her and would save her from getting shaved at the groomers. A grumpy shaved Maine Coon does not make for a happy household.
November 24th, 2010 at 3:34 pm
This would be great for my longhair cats as I cannot afford a groomer and the cats get burrs in their fur.
November 24th, 2010 at 3:36 pm
Too Kewl…send me a pair….PLEEEEZEEEEEEE
=^..^-
November 24th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Too cool! My boy kitty is long-haired and not very crazy about even being brushed. This would really help!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Oh, this is amazing. I want!
November 24th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
Wow great idea!
November 24th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
My cat’s fur is extremely ‘fluffy’…not quite considered long, but very very big and fluffy. She always needs her back side trimmed to avoid getting any poo in her fur – and I’ve always struggled with regular scissors. These would be a life saver! Very cool design and I love that I wouldn’t have to worry about hurting her skin or scaring her.
November 24th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
I could use these on Fuzzybutt without being worried about cutting her when she wiggles
November 24th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Woo Hoo!!!! I need this for my Maine Coon.
November 24th, 2010 at 4:25 pm
Fantastic ! I think it is great that people who love their pets spend time and effort designing such amazing and helpful products. I volunteer at a shelter. Needless to say, some cats come to us desperately in need of grooming. The circumstances that bring them to us often leave them very afraid as well.
November 24th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
This is such a great idea!! My Sophie is such a scaredy cat, this would be perfect
November 24th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
wow this would be great for my long hair cat!
November 24th, 2010 at 4:36 pm
What a great idea! Safe and not loud, wonderful!
November 24th, 2010 at 4:40 pm
I could use these on my cat Chester, who isn’t grooming as well as he used to – would help with his mats!
November 24th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
I could sure use that!
November 24th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
one time I snipped a mat off my cat right in front of my Vet…and sure enough, I cut a wedge out of her skin. Talk about feeling bad. I would love to wind one of these sets. Thanks for the offer.
November 24th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
What a great idea.
