When I started Moderncat back in 2007, I wrote about Elizabeth Paige Smith, one of the original designers tackling good design for cats. Her Kittypod product line was exquisite and lead the way for the entire industry. The original price points were, however, out of reach of most average cat owners. Well, I’m thrilled to announce the new Kittypod line of affordable and incredibly stylish products, along with a completely re-designed Kittypod website.

Working primarily in her signature corrugated cardboard, Ms. Smith has created two new habitats and a raised bed that sell for around $50. Two new scratch decks have been added to the line for $24 and $34. The Geodome pictured at the top of the post is even stackable.

It looks like Ms. Smith has a few more new items on the way. I’ll be sure to tell you about them as soon as they are available.

It’s interesting how everything budget minded ends up being brown cardboard. Very stylish.

I’ve been wondering what happened to this company! I love the Geodome! I’d love to get a couple of those to stack. The cats would love it! They better start saving their pennies now though!

Look like some very happy cats, and there’ll be some very happy families when they buy these!

Wow, those are all really wonderful! I’m sure that once she got the Pod going, she was raring to get something out there that was less expensive but still stylish. Great job to the designer!
And Merry Christmas to the ModernCat blog.

I love the kitty cut-outs. They’re so cute! When our cats finish with the cardboard boxes we taped together for them, I think these will be the next up.

These are cute but the stackable model looks very easy to tip over. Also cats have a natural tendancy to scratch cardboard. I can see trails of shredded cat furniture all over my floor right now! But if if they have a good time and you can afford to replace it then what the heck.

For those of us who love crafts, these would be fantastic! We could decorate them ourselves. Have you considered making kits that include the item plus maybe stencils and paints etc???
