Introducing a brand new Dutch modern cat furniture design company, UrbanCatDesign. Just launching their new product line, this company obviously takes great care to consider the cat’s needs as well as design aesthetics. Clean lines and smooth white finishes combine with brightly colored carpet inserts for a perfect modern look. All products are designed in The Netherlands and handcrafted in Europe using only the best materials that are safe for cats and humans. There are several exciting new products in this welcome addition to the modern cat world.

First is the CatCase, a multi-functional bookshelf and cat climbing tower. Carpet covered platforms and nooks are designed for kitty to perch and nap, while you still have room for storage.

The CatLedge cat climbing shelves come in three shapes and a variety of carpet colors to match your decor. Attaches securely and elegantly to the wall.

My favorite, the CatCube gives kitty a little hideaway that’s raised off the floor. A beautifully upholstered cushion coordinates with the carpet scratch pad on top.

The Catinet provides a discreet litter hideaway with storage space and a skylight.

And finally, CatScratch is a unique wall-mounted cat scratcher that looks like a piece of modern sculpture. I imagine that the corner design would be very attractive to cats, hopefully more enticing than the arm of your sofa!
UrbanCatDesign offers free shipping to some European countries (check the website for details). If you live outside of Europe, you would need to contact them to get shipping rates. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this promising new company!
Thanks to Moderncat reader Simon for the tip.

Those are awesome! I love the colours, too. Definitely one to watch; hope the shipping improves and the costs come down, though.

These items are so neat. It just really makes good use of space and looks much better than the usual stuff one buys at the local store. Love it

It just slays me that such a huge amount of my favorite attractive cat furniture is made in Europe and I do not live in Europe.
Sigh.
I adore the bookcase, the litter cabinet, and the little wall shelves.

I saw the catcase at a friends place and that is one amazing piece of furniture! For both cats and their owners

These are great – love the catcase, catcube, and catinet!!!!

I love the idea of having furniture specifically built for the kittehs. I just wish the prices weren’t so cost-prohibitive. I’m thinking about hacking a cat cube ($350?!):

These look like some really great pieces of furniture!

This catfurniture is really nice, a tad bit too expensive. But they’re a good inspiration to build these oneself

Wow! These are awesome. I especially like the scratching pad.

Are everyone else’s kitties better behaved than mine? I can’t have anything I value below 12″ from the floor–much less invite them to climb around on my bookcase!
February 25th, 2011 at 1:50 pm
Wow that fit exactly my wishes of what I have been looking for so long! If I had the money (or it would be more affordable), I would have bought them all immediately..
February 25th, 2011 at 2:59 pm
I love it all! I would ask to have the whole house furnished in the way and then we would lots of places fro more cats. Yeah, that’s it!

I really like the CatCube and the CatScratch. The CatCase looks really nice but I try to keep my cats away from my books. They’d have the whole CatCase to themselves at our house.

I like the litter hide-away and the bookshelves the best! We just did some remodeling and are going to do Cody’s cat room (and my future office) in the next few months. This would be great!

Awesome, it’s nice and useful

The Catinet is brilliant, I would love one of those for my kitty! Bit out of my price range though!

This stuff if awesome! I hate that everything cool though is designed in Europe or the US… when is Australia going to lift it’s game?!?

Love it! It says on the site non-European customers get a 19% (duty-free) discount, definitely worth checking out!

Great furniture!
March 15th, 2011 at 12:48 pm
i love the idea but i know for a fact that my cats at least would never use them – they hardly use their baskets – they prefer the smelly dog basket, any chair they arent allowed on, it tooks months to train them to use a scratch post xD if i ever get a well-behaved kitten i’ll come back here

I soo wish I could have that for my cat! She would absolutely love all those nooks and cranny places to chill!

Some of those photos have orchids in them right directly next to where a cat would be lounging. Orchids are poisonous to cats! Get rid of the orchids and re-shoot the photos with something else there. Unless those are just fake flowers ….

I love how the litter box is integrated into the furniture. That’s a great way to keep it hidden while functional.

I have 7 cats- all this stuff *looks* great, but in the real cat world, not all is cat friendly. Prime example- the first one, the bookshelves? For the first few seconds I was like, wow! what an awesome idea! Then I remembered that my cats would totally destroy the books by scratching on them. The next two are just that the photos don’t work well, in other locations they would prob be great as long as you chose the location with some thought and logic (as the photographer obviously did not)- The shelf right next to a flower? The cat is either going to eat it, or play with it until it’s in pieces on the floor. The cube next to your kitchen counter? Do you really want to help/encourage your cat to go on the counter?
Just because stuff looks great does not mean it is really a good solution.
I do love the cabinet with the litter box though, although I imagine it would stink to high heavens in there.

I’ve had orchids for years and it’s never been a problem, love the furniture!

Um, not to be a party pooper, but have you looked at those prices? A glorified cabinet with a hole in the top and side for 500 euros? You could make six of those for half that price. Cool concept, but there is no way I’d buy one.

wow! i love the hidden litter box and catcase soooo much !

I think I could hack some Ikea furniture and make these for pretty cheap. Cool ideas. I love the litter box idea.
