Ando had a chance to review the Scratch ‘n Sniff live catnip scratching post for himself (thank you to Scratch ‘n Sniff for sending us one to test), and he gives it two paws up! First, Ando is a fairly large dude, weighing in at just over 15 lbs., and the Scratch ‘n Sniff definitely stands up to all of his scratching and rubbing — which he did a lot of as soon as he got a whiff of the fresh catnip plant inside the tower. The Scratch ‘n Sniff comes with a grow-your-own catnip plant kit, or you can purchase a fresh catnip plant at your local pet supply store and place it inside. Ando really enjoyed poking his nose and paws between the bars (the whole paw can’t get between the bars), trying desperately to get at the catnip. Since the plant was just slightly out of reach it kept him engaged and attracted him to scratch on the durable sisal covered sides of the scratcher.

The Scratch ‘n Sniff scratching post is very well constructed with a durable finish that is easy to clean. It is the perfect height, measuring 24 inches tall, and it has a sturdy base that prevents it from tipping over when overzealous, catnip-crazed kitties throw their bodies at it. Also, the little “cage” that keeps the plant inside closes securely so little paws can’t open it on their own. I’m very impressed with this product!
