For a fun portfolio project, Brooklyn-based communications designer Eric Hart created a fictitious brand of cat food called Snookums – Cat Food with Attitude. He developed a complete communications package including packaging, point-of-purchase display, and even an ad campaign. The edgy copy and sassy graphics would definitley get me to notice this product!

See more of Erik’s designs on his website. Thanks to Jaime for the find. (Please note: This is not a real product, it’s just a portfolio project.)

just a concept but yet still no mice based cat food.. What an opportunity missed.
But I love the concept. too adorable.

Oh! I so love this! It’s fantastic! I hope Eric gets hired by someone to design their cat food ads and packaging, because he totally gets it and cat owners will get it too! Thanks for sharing – absolutely brilliant!

I want this to be real cat food! I would buy it as long as it was healthy and not too expensive. Saru-chan only gets gooshy food once a week as a treat, so one serving can sizes!

oh MAN I LOVE this!!!
boy o boy did I feel convicted by the ‘desert me for 8 hours’ line, or the ‘you left the bathroom door closed all day’ line…
and those cats on the tops look mean as all hell!..lol
(kind of like my cats after I do some of the things on the packaging…woops)

The graphics are fabulous! I would buy the food for my cat, carefully remove the lids and cover a wall.

That’s priceless! I love them. Now to find a cat food worthy of the attitudenous Feline.

Oh, man! I was all excited to buy this for my four cats! So disappointed to discover it’s not real. They love game meats – Ravishing Rabbit? Quirky Quail? Oh, yes, please!?

Similar in idea and concept to a project I did in ad art in college. Where, I’m wondering, is the #1 fave, MOXIE MOUSE?

Great portfolio project, I love the ad campaign.

I LOVE IT!!!! So hilarious!!! The photos of the sneering cats on the tops of the canned food is silly and different, and the tag lines are so snarky! I would love to see this product on the shelves! Eric Hart is a marketing genius! I would be surprised if he didn’t advance quickly in his field. Thanks for posting this. It made my day. I wish it was a real product

Ditto with me, jmuhj, only it was 20 years ago, my brand was Jungle Kitty Cat Food (with the wild taste your cat will love), and some of the choices were Squirrel Surprise, Mousy Morsels and Bunny Bits. The premise was that cats don’t bring down a cow in the wild, so why do we feed them salmon, whitefish and beef? Feed closer to nature. PETA would have had a field day with my brand.

Absolutely love it!
I’ve been putting together a “A Happy Pussy is a Healthy Pussy” collection of links in my sidebar, today…and slipped a link to his Snookums page in amongst them. ;-D
I know…I’m a Baaad Kitty. ;-D
