These whimsical and stylish mobiles are from Danish company Flensted Mobiles. Started in 1954 by Christian and Grethe Flensted, the company continues to create these elegant decorations today, now run by the founders’ son Ole and his wife Aase. Over the years Flensted mobiles have been featured in TV commercials, magazine advertisements, and films, including “Who is Afraid of Virginia Wolf”, in which the Flowing Rhythm mobile was shown in the bedroom of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.

These are beautiful — coincidentally, I couldn’t resist a set of “barware” (even though I would never drink alcohol!) with the same cats as the top mobile on them, a few years ago. They are still some of my favorite glasses.
