Urban Pet Haus is back with two new product ideas and they want your help again! This time we’re showing you two designs for some new wall perches with built-in feeding dishes/planters. They want to hear what you think, and everyone who leaves their feedback will be entered into a drawing for another set of Wave perches, one large and one small.

UPH has been working on two new perches: Flat and Plank. Both measure 24″ wide by 10″ deep by 6″ tall. Flat is made of powder coated steel and Plank has a faux zebrawood finish. Both mount securely to the wall and have a thick felt pad attached on top. I’ve seen the prototypes of both and they are very sturdy and well-made.

Both perches have a really cool feature, a built-in planter/feeder. This special insert can be removed for easy cleaning, plus it can be flipped over. One side creates a shallow reservoir that can be used for food or water. Turn the insert over for a deeper reservoir where you can plant cat grass for kitty to munch on. The Flat insert is zebrawood finish on the outside with a ceramic liner and the Plank insert is solid ceramic.

UPH wants to hear from you! Please leave a comment on this post telling us what you think of the two new perch designs. How much would you pay? Is the size (24″ wide by 10″ deep by 6″ tall) good? What do you think of the finishes? Would you use the feeder/planter feature? Any feedback you’d like to leave that will help the UPH design team refine these concepts will be greatly appreciated.
All comments received through May 15, 2011 will be eligible for the giveaway. Please leave only one comment per person. The winner will be chosen in a random drawing and announced on May 16. I think these are great and I love having the shallow feed box option! It gets the food off the floor, providing a safe and elevated area for the kitty to eat away from other pets or children. I also like the planter option, which gives the owner a chance to put in some pet-friendly grass or grow their own cat nip. The finish is stylish and the lovely zebra patterning suits a variety of decors.
Great overall design! To be competitive with other wall shelving units, I would pay around $100-$200 for these, a tad extra since they have the added feeder/planter option.
Exciting product! Thank you!

The design is hands down a winner. However, the planter/feeder dish doesn’t take into account practicality. The feeder dish should be deep enough or have a little lip on it to prevent cat food from dropping out of the dish. Last thing you want is a bunch of cat food on your carpet under the perch.
The issue with the planter (and I see it a lot in planter/misc designs) is that it’s not made with plants in mind. The planter is a bit small to maintain a healthy looking plant in it and also allow your cat to eat from it. Most importantly it doesn’t have any drain holes to allow water to drain. Roots are unhealthy when sitting in water. Easiest fix would be to sell the unit with a plastic pot lifted above the bottom that would fit inside the planter to plant your plant in. This will also allow you to pull out the plant to rotate it from inside to outside and allow it to be turned into a feeder quickly.

I love the innovative design of these wall climbers. My Savannah cats would look even more regal perched on one as they survey their kingdom below!

We just built a cornice over out high windows in our living room and this would be perfect for a “ladder system” up to it for our cat. The only problem would be watering the plants up high.

Too minimilst a design for my ecclectic taste. Great for the cat that needs and alternative to eating at floor level. Not all cats crave cradleling surfaces for relaxing. Not too sure aout the Planter/ feeding options, though maybe for a cat herb garden selection of cat grass, catnip and other (owner awareness required) of non- poisonous nibbleling plants, but watering and draining needs consideration.

Absolutely, amazing idea! I need one that way I would never have to worry about the dog eating the cats food again. Plus, the planter idea is great. You should offer people the chance to buy extra bowls/planters that way they can switch out the food for the planter inbetween meals. I would pay between $100-$150 for this product.

I love these designs! I do wish they came in different colors thou, such as sage green or a marine blue, since cats can see these colors.

I love the Plank perch shelf with feeder. I think it’s a genius design because even if you don’t have a cat you can use it for other things. I think it’s amazing. I would use one for my cat and I would use 2 more for folded towels and succulent plants in my bathroom.
They are absolutely gorgeos and unique. I want 3 of them right away!

Absolutely love your ideas. I have shared your site with my friends and friends’ friends on facebook. Perfect for decor and fun for cats. I have been looking for something this great for quite awhile. Now I have GREAT ideas for Christmas gifts. Good luck with more wonderful ideas! I am now going to surf your ideas for dogs. Since I have both. Only problem is will the dog want to climb on the the cat perch and will my cats want to snooze in the dog beds? Don’t you just love these kind of problems? LOL

I am so SO happy to find cat furniture that is not covered by wretched tan carpet, and better yet, with a modern look! I defintely like the shelf and planter but would be more likely to use it for books and a plant. However, for use as a cat shelf, the dish could be used to hold all the kitty toys when company comes over – everything would be neatly out of site, and yet easy to find. Please continue to make innovative pet furniture!
