Here’s the latest creation from the folks at Hollywood Franklin. It’s the Santa Monica Franklin Promenade, an ingenious solution for allowing cats to climb on existing bookshelves without knocking everything to the floor. These beautiful handcrafted ramps fit onto the edges of standard bookcases, creating a little walkway for kitty to climb. Each ramp is covered with carpet tile to keep kitty from slipping.

The ramps slide onto the edges of the shelves, clamping in place without any adhesive or screws. The ramps are available in three sizes, designed to accommodate common shelf spacing from 8 13/16″ to 11 5/16″. Hollywood Franklin can also create custom Promenade ramps with dimensions to fit your shelves.

The Promenade shelves are recommended for cats up to 18 lbs. Available in three finishes (bleached white, flat black, and dark brown) with six different carpet options for $29.50 per shelf. For more details, visit the Hollywood Franklin website.

What a great idea. Just the other night I sat cringing, wondering if it would cause more damage to try to get a cat off the shelf or just leave her there.

What a great idea!

Holy kitty! I love those! What a fantastic idea!! My Orientals would love that and I would love to stop worrying about all my books and whatnot going everywhere!

Absolutely love these, what a great idea put to work! Can’t wait to get a set for my Tokyo!

Which is fine- but those bookshelves need to be anchored to the wall securely. Cats have been injured died when shelves and furniture have fallen on them.

This is a great idea but I will tell you that even with help, my guys/gals will still shove my books out of the way (i.e. to the floor) so that they have more room on the shelf – and besides my books are just in their way.

Great Idea – but damn, that is a horribly designed website.

This is an excellent idea! Great for book and cat lovers. I’m always a fan of any furniture that can serve a dual purpose, especially when space is at a premium. Now my wife and I as well as our cats can enjoy our bookshelves.

That’s genius!

That is such a great idea!

Cool idea, too bad they only hold up to 18 lbs.

Everything Hollywood Franklin does is class. Love these — but “for cats up to 18 lbs.”? Well, that lets SOME of us out — not naming any names

Maybe their cats are more trustworthy than mine? Mine would use those to reach whichever shelf they wanted and push everything out onto the floor and make themselves comfortable in the empty space. Same thing they do if they manage to get on top of the fridge.

These are a great idea. Having these would stop my cats launching themselves off the back of my chair to reach the top of the bookcase and hoping they land on the top.

Great idea.
Too bad their website is such a complete nightmare to view/navigate. ACK!

These look amazing! My kitties (especially my little girl, Jemima) are bookcase creepers. Big fans of double- and triple-checking gravity

That is awesome! A great idea!

And yes they need to redo their website its design is horrible. Flashy but not usable.

What a marvelous idea! I will take seven.

I’ve seen a ton of cool stuff on this site. This may be my favorite. It’s an affordable way to modify my bookcases into cat towers! I love this.

Funny; I love the website.
I’m waiting for a sale though cause I’d really like to get the tower components, but they are sooo pricey.
