Lots of readers have written in about how much they love the ceramic raised feeding dishes from Classy Cat Dishes. They just launched a new set of dishes decorated with traditional Polish pottery designs. There are several to choose from featuring the classic blue and white patterns, all available on Amazon ranging from $54 to $74.

Thanks to Moderncat reader Mike for the tip.

Though $54×7 would be a bit steep for us, I love these beautiful designs! If we ever win the lottery — which we don’t play — we’re there!

Aside from the (optional) spike in the center, I fail to see the difference between these “cat dishes” and pillar candle holders.

I like these! I stopped by the Petties and voted for Moderncat.

I love ceramic so this cat dish is perfect . The design is great and I Iove that It’s raised up high for complete kitty comfort. I will definitely purchase one for my sweet little Peppermint.

@Amanda True, these dishes do resemble pillar candle holders, but the dishes are made with food grade ceramics and glazes, which the candle holders may not be.

On the dish colors (Maree), Classy Cat has four solid colors (white, blue, green and pink) in addition to the Polish patterns. I hear they may be adding a few other colors next year. The solid color dishes are also less expensive then the Polish dishes. You can see the solid colors on the Classy Cat site (link Classy Cat Dishes above) and all the solid colors are also on Amazon sort of mixed in with the Polish ones. Hope that helps.

The Amazon link has the printed dishes, not just the solid ones. I have rigged a raised food dish by turning a large water dish upside down and putting the food bowl on that. I have a cloth in between the two to keep the top dish from sliding around. It works but it does not look as good as these.

Good idea, Justine, raising the dish that way. The most important thing is the comfort of the pet as they eat and drink. We did something similar for our cats before we discovered these pedestal dishes – we’d take an upright clay flower pot (about 5″ diameter opening and 5″ high) and place a bowl that fit nicely in it. A wider shallow bowl for wet food and a slightly narrower deeper bowl for hard food or water.

I was thinking about buying one of the solid colored dishes before I saw these. My grandma is an avid collector of polish pottery and I suppose she must’ve pasted on her tastes to me so I *HAD* to buy one of these for my kitty.
May buy another soon but $54 is a little steep to buy two at once

How elegant! They have a European flavor and can double as a place to grow kitty greens. You are giving us to a nice way to spoil are feline family.

The difference is the proportions and balance. Hopefully these hold the food, are at the right height and won’t tip over too easily. Candle holders would not be a good substitute.

These are beautiful! I already own 2 raised Classy Cat raised ceramic feeders in a solid blue color and love them as does my kitty. I would <3 to get one of these beauties as well some day!
