The folks at Catswall Design, makers of the magnificent modular cat climbing wall posted previously, just released a new raised feeder for multi-cat households. The new feeder comes with two, three, four, or five removable stainless steel bowls and a convenient cat-shaped handle.

The feeder is only available in Taiwan right now in limited quantities, but the designers would like to get your feedback. Please leave a comment on this post with your thoughts on this design. Is it something you would like to see available in the US and other countries? What do you think of it?

I like the design, but I think it will only work in households where the cats all get along. I have three, and I place their dishes far apart so they won’t encroach on each other or get territorial. I also only give them a small amount of canned food, so the dishes don’t stay on the floor. I use a dispenser for dry food. So for the right household this will be great, but right now, my current system works better for us.

awesome…ingenious….my kitties would love this!

I love it! I’ve been looking for raised food bowls for my kitties and I think this is perfect. (I was looking for the link to purchase!)

Absolutely sell this in the US! Not only is this good for multiple cats, it would be good for one cat, too. You could put food in one bowl and water in another. I agree with another post that having the option of putting a shallow bowl in one of the slots for wet food would be a good idea. Perhaps making the height of the bowls adjustable so that kittens could reach, too, would be a good idea. One other suggestion: give buyers different design options for the center handle. The cat shape is a bit too cute for my taste. A simple handle would be more to my liking.

Wow, what a great design. I could really use this for my 3 cats. Wish the colors were more one-tone in earth colors.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:04 am
What’s not to love? This would make great gifts for my friends with multiple cats.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:05 am
If they come from Taiwan,I would buy them. If it says Made in China – no.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:05 am
Oh I love the design. It’s perfect for the multi cat household and tall kitties like my Savannah!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:08 am
Unfortunately, once again, companies are putting design over function. This feeder does not sit high enough – note how the cat has to hunch over the bowls which puts stress on the back and shoulder areas. Also, the bowls are too deep and narrow. Try to push your head into a bowl filled with cereal – the nose hits first if they are down to the bottom of it and makes it hard to get the mouth to the food. Cats also do not like their whiskers to touch anything, especially while eating. These bowls aren’t wide enough. Probably the worst thing design wise is that the bowls are very close together forcing hungry cats to eat right next to each other – not a preferred feeding scenario for most cats.

This is GREAT! as a multi cat household and multi dog household i have to keep the cat dishes out of the reach of the dogs. And they always knock them down and spill the cat food all over. This dish would eliminate this part and free up all my plastic storage containers!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:09 am
This is awesome! I have several fosters that don’t want to share their bowl and I end up with bowls pushed all over the place. LOVE IT!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:10 am
I like this a lot! I think this would keep our bowl hog from keeping the other cats from eating. Right now we have to keep food in three places so he can’t hog it all!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:13 am
would love this for my 2 cats!! what a great idea!!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:14 am
I love the designs but would like them better in a long rectangular shape, alternating bowls on either side with about 10 bowls (I have 11 cats), I could use these for dry food or water. I would also like dishes that would fit in the holder for wet food since my cats don’t like their whiskers touching if they have to go too far in the bowl.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:17 am
I love the concept of this cat bowl. I like the colors and the design, but would like to see more optionsto fit different people’s decor. I do think the bowls need to be wider and more shallow, which would make the whole bowl tree bigger, but it is neccessary for the comfort of the cats who are eating out if it. I would also love to see one that isn’t raised, because when I foster kittens I need a bunch of bowls of food to feed them all, and the little kittens wouldn’t be able to reach these raised feeders. It would also be great if it came with a catch tray that the whole bowl tree sits on, to catch the food crumbs. I wouldn’t use this for wet food, but I do think it’s great for free feeding multi-cat homes like mine, as well as foster homes and rescue sanctuaries.

I would love to buy this in the US for our seven cats!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:20 am
These are so cute! I need one for my 3 girls! Love the photos!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:25 am
Purrfect for my four girls!
I would prefer more neutral colors.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:26 am
Cute design. Would like to see the bowls a little more shallow, less deep, as many cats do not like their whiskers to touch the sides of the bowl while eating.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:27 am
Oh, I love this feeder….raised and stylish…..who wouldn’t love it! Littlez would like the two feeder
August 26th, 2011 at 11:30 am
Well I was just looking for the link to buy the five bowl one when I sadly saw that it is only available in Taiwan – definitely need something like this for my cats!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:31 am
I would buy two of the five bowl feeders if they were dishwasher safe. Additional colors would be an esthetic option, but not necessary. We have five fuzzys that need elevated bowls, or they bolt their food. Really nice product!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:31 am
I love the look of the design, however, I’m concerned the three and four bowl models would have to be placed too far from the wall making them easier to kick and trip over. BUT I only have Sophia and Cletus and they would LOVE the two bowl feeder!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:33 am
Wow, these are great!! I have five cats and it’s been impossible to find something they can all eat out of. I use a frisbee now..
August 26th, 2011 at 11:34 am
Oh! I was all ready to click a link and buy a four-bowl version right this second! I guess it goes without saying that, yes, I would definitely buy one if they were available in the States.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:38 am
I love this design! The only feedback I’d give is I would like to see a more “neutral” design that would fit with any decor – such as a black holder and solid stainless bowls (no color or designs).
August 26th, 2011 at 11:41 am
This is a great idea for those of us who have cats that merely tolerate each other. They could each have their own food bowl. Plus with the up to five removable bowls, they can also have separate water bowls.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:43 am
This is awesome. I would love it for our rescue. Not only is it appealing, it is at an appropriate height. I really want a 5 prong one!!!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:45 am
Love the design!!! would have to get two for my babies!
August 26th, 2011 at 11:51 am
This is a really nice idea – and would eliminate a huge mess at my house! Colors are OK – I would definitely buy these when available! Thank you for the request for input.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:54 am
I’ve been looking all over for a raised feeder that will not cause “whisker distress”. This is a cute design, but we need a very shallow bowl option. Ideally we’d love the option to buy bowls of different depths: plate-like for wet food; shallow for dry, deeper for water.
August 26th, 2011 at 11:59 am
LOVE this, I would definitely buy it if it was available in the US!
August 26th, 2011 at 12:10 pm
Oh wow … I love these and would be great in my mega-multiple kitteh household. I image out of our price range though but still a very neat idea. >^..^<
August 26th, 2011 at 12:14 pm
i love it and im sure my cats would as well. We would need the largerest one of all …but i think its so adorable and love the colors.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:19 pm
What a terrific design!
I will definitely buy a number of these when they become available in the US – not just for my furbabies, but also for the shelter they came from and for the other catlovers in my life – these will make memorable Christmas and Hannukah gifts!
Other colors and/or stainless inside and out would be great. I would also suggest that the makers expand their market by adding a version with handles shaped like a small dog (perhaps a shih-tzu or a pomeranian, or a choice among several small-dog breed cutouts); I have shown this to friends whose own furbabies are mini-pooches, and they are very interested in purchasing for their guys. There might also be a larger version for bigger dogs – I’m sure there is a large market for those, as well.
Thanks very much for the info and for affording your readers the opportunity to put in our two cents! Good design like this deserves our support and encouragement, and it is a real pleasure to be able to play a role in providing it.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:22 pm
This is a stellar idea. I hope you will have quieter blues as a color choice and at a price that is affordable for senior citizens. Looking forward to distribution in the US. Why not market this and other products to PetsMart so they will be available to people who have no computer access…and there are many. A wider group of potential customers will bring more sales and enable the price to be within reach to everyone.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:25 pm
Nice looking. Suggestion: the bowls should be a bit higher for the comfort of the cats. Around 5″ – 5.5″ to the bowl rims.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:35 pm
We have 7 cats and this would be perfect. However one change is needed… the bowls are too deep. Cats don’t really like having their whiskers bothered while they eat. The bowls should be shallow.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:41 pm
It’s attractive, but these bowls are extremely close together. Some cats can eat together in this close proximity, but many cannot. If I put this out at home, only 2 of my 4 would get whatever I was feeding; the other 2 would hold back until they were finished and therefore not eat since the first 2 would have scarfed it. It would be even less useful for a colony with a shorter history of eating together, say, a shelter colony.
Very cute, but not feline-functional, in our experience.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:47 pm
EXACTLY what I need. The 5 feeder would work perfectly. It would be nice if one could purchase extra stainless steel bowls, too. As far as color – some choices would be fun.
Hurry and bring this great product to the USA. Thanks!!!

Great design for multiple cat feeding.
I like the wave scratcher in the background of some of the pictures on their site!
August 26th, 2011 at 12:49 pm
If this was available here, I would absolutely purchase a set for me plus give them away as gifts during the holidays to my friends with multiple cats. Great idea!
August 26th, 2011 at 12:51 pm
I would like to try the 2 bowl set, altho I’m not sure my 2 would like having to stand & eat, but I think I would still like to try it out.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:54 pm
What an excellent idea! I have 5 cats, 3 of which were feral kittens and still shy. They often wait around one another at the food dishes. This would give everyone their own dish and they could still “dine” all together.
August 26th, 2011 at 12:54 pm
Love the design! great height for the kittie. Love the colors, so glad they are not pink, purple or blue-yek!!!
August 26th, 2011 at 12:59 pm
This is great! Love the design and the Handle is just adorable. I would love one of these for my four cats. I hope to find they are available soon in the USA. I’m sure we will be kept informed? It looks a lot healthier for them to eat up off the floor! Keeps a lot of strain off their neck and back!
August 26th, 2011 at 1:01 pm
Overall like the design. I agree with Catherine that the logo should go away. more color choices would be nice and the big question, are they going to be affordable? That said, I know my multi-cat household cats would enjoy not having to jostle for position during feeding time =)
August 26th, 2011 at 1:01 pm
This could be a wonderful thing! Even for households with two cats. I would, however, like dishes that weren’t too deep and also a design that allowed more than enough “whisker” room in the space between each dish.
August 26th, 2011 at 1:05 pm
I love it. I only have one cat, but he regularly has two to four different plates of food out at a time, so this would work perfectly.
August 26th, 2011 at 1:08 pm
I love the design and the selection. My kitties would love this!
