Paper artist Matthew Ross (you know his amazing paper cat sculptures!) thought he would try his hand at designing something that cats would actually be allowed to destroy, so he created these wonderful little cardboard mice. He decided to make some for his cat and apparently they are a big hit, so now these little guys are available in Matthew’s Etsy shop for $5 each or $12 for a set of three.

Those look great. I’d be concerned on how well they are made though. Seeing as though those are cardboard if that string rips out of the middle I’d hate for one of the cats to eat that string!

Hello Tim! Matthew here (the maker of these mice). Thanks for voicing your observations/concerns! My cat has been playing with a few of these for over 2 months now, and he hasn’t managed to rip the strings out of them yet – to do so would require ripping through 30 pieces of cardboard. However, I will add a note to the listings and the shipments reminding people to monitor the integrity of the toys over time, especially for more aggressive players.
