Holiday Must-Have: Cat-A-Pole Interactive Wand Cat Toy

Sun, Dec 11, 2011

I’m spending the weekend at the Phoenix Feline Fanciers annual cat show in downtown Phoenix (this is a great show that not only celebrates the breeds, but they also support cat rescue. All About Animals Rescue is prominently displayed at the front entrance and yesterday they adopted out all the rescue cats they brought with them!) While at the show, I came across a brand new cat toy that you are going to flip for! It’s the Cat-a-pole and it may be the best new cat toy on the market.

The Cat-a-pole is an interactive wand toy with some features that set it apart from all the others. First, it is designed to create a fabulous, unpredictable motion that is endlessly intriguing to cats. The Cat-a-pole has a pom pom and feather toy on the end that flits about like a mouse when you drag it across the floor or like a bird when it zips through the air. Kitty will go nuts!

Second, and what I think is the greatest feature ever, the Cat-a-pole does not use a string for attaching the toy. Instead the toy is attached to a long thin plastic tube. This is what creates the unpredictable motion, but best of all, there’s no string to get tangled! Other wand toys are constantly getting tied in knots or tangling around the cat or the furniture. The Cat-a-pole doesn’t do this. Brilliant!

Finally, this toy has an awesome soft grip handle so your hand doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off after five minutes of play. I played with this toy non-stop for more than an hour last night and my hand never felt fatigued. Thank you, Cat-a-pole!

This is definitley a must-have gift for the holidays and you can order one online at The wand with one attachment is $19.95 and replacement attachments are $6.95 each or less if you order multiples. The pom pom attachment is really easy to replace and seems to be quite durable.

Check out this video to see the Cat-a-pole in action (if you can’t see the video below in your email, click here to watch it on the site.)

You have no idea how hard it was to get Daddy to stop watching that stupid Pole Dance Battle video so WE could watch this far more entertaining, and sexy, Cat-a-Pole video!

    Hmph! Humans, I swear!

Great toy, but the sheer curtain didn’t fare so well.

Finally a toy my cat won’t break by chewing the string in half. Pretty clever!

What a good idea. I have some sad looking string cat toy things around here and the effort required to animate them is sometimes more than I have in me.

Thanks Modern cat for featuring our favorite toy! We have had our Catapole since August, and we still love it so much!! We love this cat toy which we think is the cats meow of cat wands !I

It’s a mouse, it’s a bird, its random motion at it’s best! Its the Cat-A Pole! The Furball cat boys think this is the best cat toy ever!! We found it at the Santa Monica Cat Show. We loved it so much, we got one and decided to review it for our youtube channel, Furball Fables. It measures about 9 feet. You can play with it in a small space or a large space. We found it moved differently depending on where you hold it on the handle. Great for one cat or a household of kitties. Watch your cat go crazy for hours!

Each of the cats responded to it in their own way. Merlin liked to hide and pounce on it. Yogi played catch and fetch with it. Buddha chased it, jumped and killed it! Elfin, who is so shy was so curious by this toy. It brought him out of his shell (the white siamese with the big blue eyes) he played with the other cats and became very outgoing! (AMAZING!) Sometimes all 4 boys would take turns like a game.

It’s as much fun for humans as it is for cats!

I purchased a cat-a-pole at the show this past weekend, of course I couldn’t wait until the holidays to give this to my cat. He LOVES it. It will be a toy we have to share for years to come. My cat Bradley loves his stick and fishing pole style toys greatly… So I knew it would be a hit, this is his one of his favorites by far, he attempted to drag it to bed with us last night.

I bought my mother one for her cat a few months back at the santa monica CFA show. the first attachment unfortunately broke pretty quickly, but my dad glued it back together and it seems to be holding up fine. kind of disappointing though considering how much it cost and how much the replacements are. however, their cat absolutely LOVES it. he even drags it around the house with him!

Got a couple, however it makes Ralphie nuts. He grabs it and growls like crazy. I’ve never seen him act like that before. Norton likes it and leaps after it when Ralphie is distracted. The action is great, easy to control, comfortable in the hand. Glad I got them. Just have to get Ralphie a little calmed down. :)

Well, that didn’t take long. Just got the poles yesterday, already one is broken. The string that holds the two large pole sections together snapped. Another note, the instructions don’t match the toy – the instructions say to screw the sections together, but there are no threads to allow them to be screwed together. A very fun toy, but construction quality could be improved.

Our cats are just nuts for this toy. We did not have any issues with the construction or durability. Our cats definitely have tested it to its limits. I believe MonaLS just got a dud. Our cats remain excited and engaged whenever we pull out this toy, and they participate in much longer play sessions. Great for getting them moving.

So glad I got these! I managed to fix the broken one with some elastic cord from the fabric shop. This is are my cats favorite toy bar none, it gets them very involved and enthusiastic. Ralphie normally isn’t a leaper, but he sure gets airborne when this toy comes out.

Hopefully others have had more luck than me – I ordered this 2 weeks and have not received it nor have had the seller contact me or respond to emails. I would be cautious and consider this before placing any orders with this site.

Looks like they have made some design improvements. I order another couple after my boyfriend played tug-o-war with the last one and snapped the elastic. The cats still go nuts for them, indoors or out. Great toy.
