This is one of the most stunning cat-friendly interiors I’ve seen! So simple and elegant, the crisp white design sets off the gorgeous cats, showcasing them as the beautiful creatures they are. Moderncat reader Alinta clearly has an eye for design!

The placement of the floating white shelves creates a perfect climbing area for Alinta’s cats without being an eyesore. The shelves almost disappear. Who says you can’t accommodate your cat’s need to climb while still maintaining your sense of style? Nicely done.

It looks like Alinta added carpet pads to the top of the shelves to prevent slipping — always a good idea. And in the kitchen, she used the Cat Clouds Shelves from The Refined Feline. Elegant and modern, and it looks like the cats really enjoy them, too!

This IS stunning! My husband and I have been thinking about doing something like this in our living room for our kitty Jean-Luc. Love this.

This interior is beautiful! Does anyone know what kind of floating shelves were used? Ive looked at floating shelves but the ones Ive seen never looked like they would actually support cats. Thanks! Alyssa

Wow! When I grow up (and am no longer a messy girl) I want to create something simple and elegant like this! What wonderful design!

So, this is a DIY site… where are the instructions to make these (wonderful) shelve? I must admit I’ve thought along these exact lines for years, never implementing those thoughts. They look great!

I adore this! Is there a chance your reader might share specifications as to how we too might create these? I would even attempt a DIY project to get this result! Please share; we would all be so grateful and all of our cats as well!

While white is my absolute least favorite (non)color, I do enjoy seeing the gorgeous CATS!

I love this all white room! Beautiful and looks so clean. We have the square cat habitat shelves up in our livingroom and our cats have so much fun on them. I like shelves that have some kind of carpet inserts for the cats to grab onto, for scratching and plus comfort.

Very nice and clean looking. Very modern too. Ooh, but wait, is that a carpeted cat condo I see in the corner? Shame! Shame! Shame on them!!!

WOW that looks amazing! I’m normally not a fan of all white but this really does look stunning. I especially love the Breakfast at Tiffany’s poster – gives the room a little color

Looks like we all want info on the sleek, STRONG, floating shelves behind the table – not the less attractive Cat Clouds from The Refined Feline. Please share!

Love the style but I especially love seeing kitties on the walls! They’re moving artwork – how cool!!

I myself was also wondering what type of shelves these were. Did she, or someone build them, or purchase? Did they use… I don’t know the term, but where you slide the shelf onto the anchor with rods/boards that slide into the shelf, then you screw it in. Or did they just do some type of anchor on the wall and that was good enough?

This is beautiful. I have been thinking of putting up shelves for my cats, but I’m not quite sure which to use. Any extra information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all of you wanting to know which shelves i used, well I got them from a home centre store, I live in Bahrain in the middle east.. The shelves come in 3 different sizes and many colours like red, Pink, green, dark wood… The shelves have mental frames with 2 rods which are screwed on the the wall & then the shelf slides on & then secured with a screw.. I don’t know if these exact shelves are available in your countries, however I did see a lot of varieties in IKEA … For those of you who love a colour splash there was red etc.. I just found that some of the more clean lined shelves (without visible brackets) didn’t meet the weight requirements for one of my cats! he is a big boy!

I’m with everyone else who is interested in knowing what kind of floating shelves these are (in the dining room, not the ones from refined feline). Love them! I’ve been looking for a floating shelf like this that can safely support my cats’ weight for a long time, but all the ones I’ve found have a max weight limit of 10-12lbs. This would be ok if my cats just sat on the shelves, but if they jump up and down from shelf to shelf the momentum plus their weight may be too heavy. I also have a large siberian mix who is 14lbs and loves to climb, so I’m guessing I need shelves that can hold at least 20-30lbs safely. If you have any info that would be appreciated!

Absolutely stunning. I love a home that is stylish for the owners, and also cat friendly. We (Fancy Cat Furniture) will be designing modern cat furniture, so I’m going to keep these floating cat shelves in mind.
I love the way you placed them in the dining room. And all the different sizes.
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us
Kindest,
Nicole.

These are not they that she used, but some of these shelves can support up to 88 pounds (see the Sumo model). Plenty of heft for hefty kitty jumping and hefty kittehs in general. I don’t mind that the brackets show. The brackets come in pleasing shapes and colors enough for me.
