Is your home bi-petual? We first heard this term on 20/20 a couple of weeks ago in an interview with Jackson Galaxy. According to Jackson, ”We have to stop this ridiculousness of classifying ourselves. I’m a cat guy, I’m a dog guy. I’m ‘bi-petual.’” Well, here at Moderncat, we normally focus only on the feline, but this adorable Dachshund cat scratcher/lounge is quite charming and might be a good way to welcome a canine presence into your home. This little fellow is from Imperial Cat and he gives kitty a nice cardboard surface to lounge on and scratch, perhaps helping to keep her claws off the family dog.
So if you want to take a step toward being bi-petual, this might be the thing for you. The Imperial Cat Dachshund Scratcher is available from Wayfair.com and Amazon for under $30.

This is strictly a CATS-ONLY home; but we’d be glad to scratch, or lay on, dogs, as long as they are fake dogs.

I love Imperial Cat! They have such cool scratchers, and they are so nice to shelters. In fact, someone recently used their donation program to send our shelter kitties a whole case of their Scratch ‘N Bits! Very happy kitties here!

I agree with Jackson. My only issue with dogs are they take more work and dedication than I have to give. If I could have a dog thought I’d get one from a Corgi rescue seeing as Corgis are my favorite pups.

While I love (almost) all animals, and definitely all pets, I am first and foremost a cat person. I do love dogs and get along great with them, but given a choice, I’d go with a cat.

We had a cat scratcher/lounge by Imperial Cat in the shape of a whale a year or so ago. One of our cats absolutely *LOVED* it until it was no longer suitable for use (read: gaping holes all over it, perfectly exemplifying how much he loved it). We’re always on the lookout for the next “whale”. This one might be it.

So if you’re only into cats, does that make you “purr-petual”? HA! Seriously, I like dogs too, but I agree with the other commentors – too much work.
