Here’s just the thing to slow down that speedy creature racing through your living room! It’s a Kitty Speed Bump from Catpods.com. We absolutely love the one they sent us to test. As you can see below, the Kitty Speed Bumps have multiple functions: resting spot, scratching surface, bolster, and meeting place. The Speed Bumps are much heavier than you might think, so they stay in place easily, especially on carpet.

Kitty Speed Bumps are just the right size to give your cat a little place to mark as her own. By scratching, rubbing, and lying on the Speed Bump, kitty will leave her scent and scratch marks to claim her territory. Wouldn’t you rather her do that on a Speed Bump than on your furniture?
Kitty Speed Bumps are available directly form Catpods.com for $19.95. Use coupon code MODERNCAT and get 5% off all products, plus, right now, receive a free bag of Kitty Pucks toys with every order!

ENTER TO WIN! THREE WINNERS!
Three lucky readers are each going to receive a Kitty Speed Bump! To enter, please leave a comment on this post telling us why your kitty needs a Speed Bump. The winners will be chosen in a random drawing and announced on May 7, 2012. One entry per person. This giveaway is limited to addresses in the continental US.

Love it! Clovis was racing downing the halls in the early morning. Hope the speed bump will slow him down.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:24 am
The speed bump sounds like a great multi-purpose gift for my kitty!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:24 am
This would save my furniture…I need it.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:24 am
I think at least three out of four facts would love this is a distraction through their daily routine. Plus, it’s something Tommy Gargoyle can’t move around the house, upstairs and down.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:24 am
My boys love to lie on things like this!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:24 am

WONDERFUL!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:25 am
Ooooh! The children need this! They love to scratch and lounge. I can see it now!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:26 am
I want it!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:26 am
Aw! We have a stripey goddess who would love this …..
April 30th, 2012 at 10:26 am
My cats would love this because it seems they are naturally lateral scratchers. I have taught them to use the vertical scratching posts but occasionally catch them using the carpet… I have sacrificed several area rugs to keep the flooring carpet intact. Lateral scratching posts are hard to find.

Just what the kitty turnpike in my house needs.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:26 am

April 30th, 2012 at 10:27 am
These are great…we have hardwood floors and when my Kitty really gets going she starts drifting like a Porsche 911…these would be great to give her something extra to dig her claws in!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:27 am
My kitties need this Kitty Speed Bump scratcher because their old scratcher has bit the dust!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:28 am
Considering the speed with which my two maniac girls tear around here (not to mention the speed with which their claws seem to grow), a speed bump would be just the thing for this place!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:28 am
In our house I think these would be used as obstacles for jumping over, perhaps with multipels placed serially for long-jumping, Evil Kitty-Kneival style.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:28 am
I have 5 kitty babies! They would all love scratch scratch scratching this!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:29 am

April 30th, 2012 at 10:30 am
My kitty would love this & my furniture will be happier too.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:31 am
My two tabbies need a speed bump because they want to be just like the two tabbies pictured here resting against a speed bump–AFTER their fun-filled feline frenzy running and jumping over it, of course! (Ernie and Esther are also a pair of gray and orange/buff tabbies.)
April 30th, 2012 at 10:31 am
My cats soooo need a kitty speed bump or two or three…
April 30th, 2012 at 10:31 am
I would love to have a Speed Bump for my kitty, Speedo !!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:32 am
Both my cats are horizontal scratchers, so I can imagine them both going to town on this.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:32 am
my, my all three of my babies would love this item, they tear us all the other ones I bring home when I can find them, would love it!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:32 am
My coats would love this, they don’t need to slow down, but they could use the resting place.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:32 am
Slow down Javier!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:33 am
Speed Bumps for every Kitty, please !!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:33 am
My cats would love this, I can definitely see Missy Kitty sitting on top surveying the living room.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:33 am
Ooh my cat would love this. Her scratching pad is torn up and the curve on this is awesome! I bet she’d lay on it all day!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:34 am
Oooh! This might work better than my secret sofa back at my hidden lair! Ziggy Stardust
April 30th, 2012 at 10:34 am
This would be perfect for my girls when they get the zoomies!!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:35 am
Sambuca might actually trip on his livingroom flyby, but it would be worthit to see! Plus, he loved anything cardboard.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:36 am
Because they wont obey the 55 stay alive rule!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:36 am
The Kitty Speed Bump looks like a fallen tree trunk. My cat would love to bring the outdoors inside and pretend like she is clawing the tree trunk.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:37 am
Our new rescue is a tripod (missing his front left leg to the shoulder) and he loves pulling with his one front paw. He needs to be able to sit on the scratcher to keep it from moving due to his one front leg. This one looks perfect – especially if it is heavy enough to not move around – or he can always sit on it!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:37 am
I know exactly which one in my LucKy Se7en CatZ will claim this when I WIN!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:37 am
Cute! I think this would make Sage a Happy Bengal.
April 30th, 2012 at 10:38 am
My kitty would love this! He loves to rip into a roll of paper towels, so this would be the perfect alternative to that, and a nice spot to lay on since he loves napping on the carpet!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:38 am
y cat runs around the licing room floor like a lunatic, she is a tortie and very naughty, so this may help
April 30th, 2012 at 10:39 am
My 4 kitties love to “sharpen their toes” on anything and everything they can! Cardboard is one of their favorites, but the scratchers we’ve tried move around so much the kitties give up! This sounds like it might work great!
April 30th, 2012 at 10:39 am
My new cat MayBelle would love this. I adopted her in Jan. 2012 from her foster home after she was taken from Death Row at the animal shelter. She is just discovering cat toys and loves her cat scratchers. All of these are new experiences for her.
