Here’s just the thing to slow down that speedy creature racing through your living room! It’s a Kitty Speed Bump from Catpods.com. We absolutely love the one they sent us to test. As you can see below, the Kitty Speed Bumps have multiple functions: resting spot, scratching surface, bolster, and meeting place. The Speed Bumps are much heavier than you might think, so they stay in place easily, especially on carpet.

Kitty Speed Bumps are just the right size to give your cat a little place to mark as her own. By scratching, rubbing, and lying on the Speed Bump, kitty will leave her scent and scratch marks to claim her territory. Wouldn’t you rather her do that on a Speed Bump than on your furniture?
Kitty Speed Bumps are available directly form Catpods.com for $19.95. Use coupon code MODERNCAT and get 5% off all products, plus, right now, receive a free bag of Kitty Pucks toys with every order!

We are working hard at our shelter to educate people on alternatives to declawing. We like to give our cats lots of different types of scatchers so we can find what they like so we can make recommendations to their new family. The speed bumps would be a great product to feature in the colony.

My cat and two dogs race around and around my living room. Maybe it will slow all of them down! He loves to scratch and it will look better than the box he now uses.

Out two girls run around in the middle of the night waking us up, this speed bump would be perfect for next to our bed, which they are alternatively marking with their claws!

I adopted a Maine Coon last year and he is full of energy, sometimes too much for my two other cats. the speed bump would slow him down and give him another outlet for his energy

Our Tucker needs this to slow down his path of disaster – at three he is still a crazy kitten!
May 1st, 2012 at 7:17 am
My kitties would love this. I can see them hiding behind (although they are all to ‘pudgy’ to actually hide) waiting to pounce on the next kitty trying to sharpen his/her claws. What fun they would have.

OMG my three so need a speed bump in their lives! They sound like ponies running through the house when they’re playing. Maybe this would slow them down a bit!
May 1st, 2012 at 9:04 am
With my niece’s 2 cats added to our already crowded feline house–I could definitely use this. Plus they could have their own scratcher that doesn’t have any scent from the existing cats.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:08 am
I think my cat Mufasa needs this badly.. He tends to have moments throughout the day where he goes on an energy sprint around the house, knocking stuff, and almost people, over! This might help grab his attention and slow him down a little!
May 1st, 2012 at 9:18 am
I think this speed bump might intice my indoor cat to slow down his inside scratching in my apartment! Love it!

Those 4 precious of mine have tripped me too many times. Time to “trip” them
May 1st, 2012 at 9:36 am
Traffic gets heavy & hectic at our house with our 7 cats plus our 2 hospice foster kitties! Our cats are all over the age of 6, but you’d never know they weren’t kittens at heart. Schmoo (10) & Carlton (9) are our “kickers” – they love to grab their cat beds and roll around pummelling them. Jack (6, has chronic renal failure) has actually grabbed his cardboard scratcher and dragged it across the floor while scratching it & wrestling with it! These active cats need a challenge, and a Speed Bump would be the center of their attention.
